Spot-on, Barry. I was at the game and couldn’t believe the boos. (Well, yes I could, because many of my fellow Yankee fans are fucking buffoons.)
I’ve been saying for two months that no matter what happens in the playoffs, I’m finally happy that there’s a great talent base of young players. First time in 20 years.
Do tell...
There’s no epidemic among older men today who played only high school football 40 years ago, like there is smog former NFL players. That’s all I’m saying. CTE is very specific to men who played pro football.
Yes, but it’s rare. Look at the article screenshot I posted above.
Not among people who stop playing after high school.
You should read the whole thread. I’m talking about kids who stop playing after high school, not NFL players.
Sure, I know I had many undiagnosed concussions. But a few concussions don’t mean CTE later in life.
I meant to include this in my last comment:
Four kids out of hundreds of thousands. Like I said, it's spectacularly rare.
Nah, kids who stop playing after high school almost never experience brain problems later in life. It’s the pros who do.
Getting killed or maimed, while slightly more common in football, is also spectacularly rare in the sport.
Please let this be the only thing from ‘80s hockey that comes back.
He’d gone at least six innings in each of his last three starts. Again, I’m not saying he should be one of Toronto’s four starters. But he should be on the playoff roster, in the bullpen, a la David Cone in 2000 for the Yankees.
Nah. If it were that serious, he wouldn't have pitched this game.
David Cone, 2000. They should seriously consider putting him on the roster as a reliever.
Hmm. I get that there’s no room for him now in a four-man playoff rotation, but hard to believe they wouldn’t want a veteran lefty and long man in the pen.
“... and giving a fourth grader a trumpet.”
Fair enough. Thanks.
EDIT: Never mind. People getting hysterical.
