Can’t wait to read the comments. I agree, King Cheetoh is out of his mind!
Answer is yes.. ALWAYS Y E S !!!!
There, now we agree on something.
integrating a dual port setup for the sake of using a Tesla style nozzle is neither cost effective nor pretty. Look at the Leaf setup for the J1772 and Chadmo.
the SAE DC fast charger doesn't use the J1772, it uses the J1772 combo, not exactly the same plug and it definitely won't work with the Tesla. As for BMW coming into a mature market you forget BMW launched the MINIe field trial in 2008 and the ActiveE field trial in Jan of 2011. I was on the ground floor of the…
The i3 is definitely a fun car to drive. I've owned and still own a few BMWs and the i3 has a lot of the driving attributes of most BMWs.
I do own an i3. I can't say enough great things about it. Intoxicating instant torque, super responsive steering, light agile chassis, and oh yeah, no gas for daily commutes!
And let me clarify one thing, BMW went to Tesla to discuss sharing of infrastructure. 2 reasons it didn't work, 1: their charge nozzle is only compatible with Tesla models and won't work with BMW/VW/Audi/Leaf/Volt etc etc, and 2: the correct industry standard (SAE CCS) is what BMW will be rolling out. It's Elon and…
There is only 1 of those battery swap stations and it's in Southern Cali. It's by appt only and is being met with resistance by some owners of newer Model S. Let's say, you're driving a brand new P85 and you do a battery swap. How do you know the battery you're getting isn't 3 years old and degraded? I wouldn't want…
That is what BMW/VW/Chargepoint announced today. level 3 chargers. Will charge the car to 80% in 20-30 mins depending on the amps of the specific charger. I'll be able to go from DC to Boston in my i3 with stops every 50 miles if I need them to charge up. All for free!
Correct. Their version of the DCFC is for interstate travel. But their residential and local level 2 chargers charge no faster than any other 40 or 50 amp level 2 chargers. At 7.5kw/h it would take a regular level 2 11.8 hours to fully charge a Model S 85.
incorrect. Tesla's 'Super chargers" can charge the p85 at that rate but not a level 2 charger. A level 2 charger takes 6-8 hours depending if you're following Tesla's recommendation of only charging to 80%
LONG LIVE THE TACO!!
Not a truck, I had the rabbit diesel 5 door. Manual crank windows and no air.. it took 3 days to get to 60MPH (Mainly because it was a 4 speed) but I would put $9 worth of diesel and I would go all MONTH!!! Because College days... Oh yeah, it was brown! :/
Your argument is invalid, you're driving a POS Saturn and I'm driving a new high tech BMW. If I really wanted to be frugal I would go and buy another 85 Rabbit diesel!!
Are you reading something different than I posted? Go read it again.. "Same distance" means 82 miles. Not per mile..
Ummm, you do realize there is no maintenance on an EV right? Regen guards against needing brakes inside 90K miles. Tires are $135 for the i3. and even at 40MPG highway you're still $.19 over my costs.
Recycling carbon has been around in the bike industry for a while. There are micro businesses that repair, maintain and recycle carbon. Care is needed when recycling it because breathing in the carbon fibers is bad for your lungs.
sipping on the 110 is too slow. If you go for it, you'll need the level 2 charger or access to a public level 2 charger. makes living with any EV a lot easier!
