Why go to Britain? I went to college in a place that looked like Hogwarts, chanted and sang in ancient Greek, was obsessed with owls, and had a course in Ancient Magic (with a Defense Against the Dark Arts module) taught by a Gilderoy Lockhart look-alike.

Who is besmirching the good name of the gothic novel like that? Bram Stoker and Emily Bronte would like a word...

Srsly. If your GMO was created to benefit human health, I'll eat it. If you did it to be pesticide resistant or to make the tomato prettier or the salmon grow faster, then fuck that noise. It's not that I think GMOs are evil; I just hate the ones created because Big Agro wants to make another dollar.

The cause was good, but the execution was... a little tiresome, after the 10,000th video.

I want instant runoff voting and an end to the whole "money = speech" crap. Between having only two major parties to choose from and incumbents being showered with money that then keeps them in office, I'm not surprised by the high incumbency rates.

Perhaps you need to use a modifier, such as "the MMA fighting asshole legally named War Machine." Truth all around!

COTD.

And what about that coffee you make with butter? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!

Do TV shows count as cinema? Because I'm pretty sure Dr. Franklin cried a few times on Babylon 5. (I can't remember if Zoe cried at the end of Serenity.)

Same thing with Anakin! He was on a planet!

Yeah, who knows what would happen if judges decided to change a social institution like marriage by saying black people could marry white people? Oh wait, that happened! And all that resulted was thousand of cute little interracial babies and one President of the United States.

TPM: The Jedi go for a swim and get totally soaked.

I misread this as #NationalMakeMenDinnerDay and wondered if Hannibal had created a hashtag.

I have a Theory about depression and carbs that's related to the whole willpower depletion thing: I crave carbs because I naturally have low willpower that is easily sapped by life. Therefore, I am constantly needing to restore it, which science has proved sugar does.

The irony of my depression is that CBT generally makes me worse, not better. Which is a pity, because fall for so many of those damn loopholes.
