The real solution to rigid gender coding is not to get rid of Barbies or princesses, or try to make them into boys' toys. It's to no longer associate any toys as exclusively for boys or girls, so that playing dress-up, caring for babies, going on adventures, or being little scientists is encouraged in all children.

Huh. So that horse-face seems to be a pretty dominant family trait.

This one is my favorite.

Mmm...words are failing me a lot the past few days. I think I'll hand this one over to moviebob:

I have, and...well, I can see why you might say why it's for girls. It's something I've been trying to tell people. It's as much a feminine power fantasy as God of War is a masculine power fantasy.

I'm going to just nominate a few from anime. The advantage of anime is you can do things that would explode a studio's budget or look completely hokey in live action. Spoilers ahoy. First: The climactic gunfight between Vash and Knives in Trigun:

Serious question, where does social role fall in this?

Yeah, I like that even the God of Deception was unsure. He decided that "Ashiok" would have to do in lieu of pronouns.

Queen?

As a dedicated lore aficionado, I can say "Because it makes her interesting."

Oh look, a double amputee, who is also a planeswalker.

Something like this guy?

With all the discussion of how gory and violent this is, does it make me a bad person that I find this utterly hilarious?

Is it better or worse to just take a stab at a guess instead of cloaking it in euphemism. Particularly with east Asian ethnicities: "Are you Chinese/Japanese/Korean?"

Quick internet research tells me that Dulmacher is actually a real surname, a variant spelling on the german "Dolmetscher." It actually means "translator" or "interpreter" or "diplomat."

I tried playing it myself, but I'm so paranoid (bit of PTSD, bit of other stuff) I never even got to die. As I sensed my impending doom, I got more and more freaked out until I had to just quit before my heart exploded.
