Dang, Xeni! Thinking good thoughts for you.
Dang, Xeni! Thinking good thoughts for you.
This is a good teaching moment. In the U.S., churches are totally allowed to discriminate. They can be sexist, racist, homophobic etc. ad. nauseum. So, if Gay marriage is made legal, will Teh Gays be able to sue and force churches to perform their hedonist marriages? No, for the same reason that this couple can't…
She thinks red heads should dye their hair, because no one likes red heads. That's just crazy talk.
To trick myself into eating less, I like to bind my hands behind my back, padlock the fridge and eat cotton balls. (J/k, but I fully expect to see these ideas in an upcoming issue of Cosmo.)
I went to a Jesuit university for law school and got Plan B at the on-campus clinic, which was a testing site for the drug combo. Lucky for me, those Seattle Jesuits must not have read that 47-page PDF.
Iknowright?! Doesn't this guy have a handler to warn him that this sort of stunt makes him look like a whiney baby?
Another reason not to name your boy children after their dad.
Since these centers purport to provide medical advise and counseling, how about forcing them to have licensed (medical or mental health counseling) staff? Then, when their licensed personnel lie, they risk both losing said license and being sued for malpractice. No constitutional protection for that.
Dang, girl. I wanna come to your house.
There's more to fertility treatment than IVF. My sister conceived with other methods (high-tech turkey baster) at about $1-2K a pop, took on the 3rd try. Boom, baby.
Blood test to check hormone levels and an (internal, wand-style) ultrasound to see what your ovaries are up to. Check to see if it's covered by your insurance (mine covered diagnosis but not treatment of infertility). The more you know . . .
I think part of the problem is that we are told from a very young age that if we have sex without birth control we will get immediately pregnant, first time, even if it's just the tip. And that's just not true - even in your most fertile 20s, the chances of getting pregnant after a month of "procreative sex" isn't…
I wonder if the difficultly in understanding here is one of perspective. As a non-believer, if I am presented with a doctrine that I do not agree with, I can reject it, flat-out. I understand that a believer has a more difficult task when dealing with a particular doctrine within her belief system that disagrees…
Well stated and reasoned response that made me think. +1- to Liz_D. Thank you.
So, how far back in a religion's history are we allowed to go? The LDS didn't accept African-Americans as full members of the church until the 70s - a fact brought home to me when my cousin married outsider her race, and her Mormon bishop granddad and good Mormon grandmother disowned her never speaking to her again. …
I get CBC in Seattle! Surely Seattle isn't the only American city that gets Canadian programming - or how would we all know DeGrassi?
Quibble: by making one category of costs tax deductible, it does not mean that those costs are now being subsidized. It only means that they are not being taxed.
I'm no expert, but I think one reason we're seeing fewer women get paid maternity leave is that, even with companies that have a paid maternity leave policy, you have to be employed there for one, two or even three years in order to take it.* It's well documented that women change jobs multiple times (I think the…
I lock myself out of Facebook and other timewaster sites, b/c I gotta get work done. The Leechblock add-on for Firefox is great for that.
