We are using base 2 in computers. Base 10 makes sense for meters, grams, etc... NOT for bits. When talking about a KiloByte, it should be obvious to everyone you're talking about 2^10Bytes. A MegaByte should be 2^20Bytes. Bytes are inherently a base 2 system, because it's based on bits.
