Plus there was NO WHISTLE until after the ball was kicked. He didn’t just NOT HEAR IT, there simply wasn’t a whistle, it was a live play and he blocked the kick, so there’s no roughing. . .

Exactly, and there’s no foul for roughing the kicker if you touch the ball (and assuming you don’t like bodyslam them). . .

Not wrong. No whistle blows until after the kick. Did you not watch the play with the sound on? The refs didn’t blow the whistle because they probably didn’t want to ice the kicker themselves, but either way, it certainly wasn’t a dead play. . .

Why was it dirty? Please explain what rule he broke (and not just rules as you feel them, but as they are actually in the rule book) other than jumping offsides?

But what did he do? It seems to me that he is only guilty of jumping early offsides. He blocked the kick and ran into the kicker, which is not illegal if you block the kick (which he did). The refs didn’t blow the whistle, so this wasn’t a dirty play or he didn’t get lucky for not getting called with roughing the

Watch the play embedded above, the Refs didn’t blow the whistle until well after the ball was kicked and the kicker was knocked down. So the play was most certainly not dead. . .

He reached down with his hands as he got in front of the kicker and partially blocked it (which is all that matters; all he had to do was simply touch it with a finger tip and it counts as a ‘block’).

Sorry man, mobile is not great for keeping track of shit on Kinja and pretty much everyone on here is calling for Sherman’s head or calling him dirty and I don’t agree with that. . .

He touches the ball, he doesn’t need to completely block it, just tip it with the tip of his finger, and he gets more on it than that. He looked like he was trying to get the kicker to not even kick the ball, but he still did. Either way, not roughing. . .

Of course he shrugged it off, the play was never blown dead until after he blocked the kick. He did what he was supposed to do, he even beat the kicker to his spot and the guy still tried to kick it.

Except the play ISN’T dead. The idiot refs do not blow the whistle until well after the ball is kicked. Sherman doesn’t know he’s offsides without the whistle, so he goes in and blocks the kick. This was not a dirty hit after the whistle, it was a bunch of shitty refs not calling unabated offsides and blowing the play

I agree with that statement. Now watch the play again with the sound on and tell me when you hear a whistle, because the play was definitely not blown dead (now, I would wholeheartedly agree that it could or should have been, but it wasn’t). . .

Except the play wasn’t blown dead, so he didn’t do anything ‘after the whistle’. . . Watch the play embedded in the article and tell me when you first hear a whistle.

People who don’t know the rules really annoy me. Thanks for trying to correct this shit. This play happens 30 times a game for both teams. . .

Except they didn’t blow the play dead. No refs blew a whistle until well after the ball was kicked. And they didn’t call Roughing the Kicker because Sherman BLOCKED THE KICK. . .

No, he wasn’t given the benefit of any doubt. The refs never blew the play dead, so he blocked the kick and hit the kicker, which is totally legal. Sherman doesn’t know he’s offsides unless he hears a whistle and there was no whistle.

Why? They never blew the whistle and Sherman didn’t know he was offsides. He blocked the damn kick. Fuck the Refs. If they blow the whistle like they would have if it was a QB back there, then none of this happens or matters . . .

He could, except when it’s a QB back there, they 99% of the time blow the play dead (which they should have done here and did not). THEN if you suplex the QB on an unabated play after the whistle, that’s unnecessary roughness and you would probably get in some trouble for that shit.

Yeah, and the Seahawks constantly get screwed by the refs. The few times the shitty calls go in their favor everyone stands up and says “See!! They always get the calls!”.

Not late, no whistle until after the ball was kicked. . .
