I deal with eating disorders, and the very first thing I ever distinctly remember about having thoughts that were off about weight was reading the Baby Sitters Club as a little kid, and really, really, really wanting diabetes like Stacey had because she was so thin. Even though the books always presented it as this

I know what you are getting at, I was showing a picture of my Mom wearing a sweater I knit for her and more than a few people commented on how my Mom looked. Specifically saying, "She looks fantastic, she's so thin!" Like it was the greatest thing. I think one woman asked me how she did it, (and yes this woman knew

I was looking at another photo of her She has long wavy hair, big eyes, and good bone structure- conventionally attractive features that have nothing to do with her illness. Whether or not you agree that those features should be lauded, she has them and likely wouldn't have caught so much attention if she were merely

Cosigned! I have IBS which is a pretty manageable disease if you avoid food triggers and stress. (So, okay, not THAT easy to manage). Crohns is a different beast altogether.

Huh. Not sure how I feel about this. On an individual level, of course, good for her. She is a beautiful young woman, and anything that normalizes her experience is a good thing.

I had a temporary colostomy bag about 5 years ago and lost about 40 pounds within a month of getting it. Once I healed from the surgery, I ate constantly and did not gain a pound until the bag was removed (so this very well might be an uncontrollable normal for her). I agree with you that she still checks a lot of the

Okay, seriously? You obviously have no idea what Crohn's can be like - hmmm, I wonder what having large portions of your digestive tract removed or your bowels burst does to your ability to absorb nutrition normally/efficiently? She likely isn't doing much to "try" to be that thin and is lucky to be generally healthy

You're right, she probably lives off of lettuce leaves and carrot juice and works out for hours a day in an effort to conform to regressive beauty standards!! OR, she has a wasting disease. But whatever.

Actually, I have a friend with serious Crohns and she said her body only absorbs about half of what she eats. Added to the fact that she can't eat a lot of things (goodbye pizza and cupcakes and everything delicious), she ends up (un)naturally skinny. My father in law is the same way too.

Ugh you're totally right, I'm so sick of the unrealistic beauty standards of society, WE CAN'T ALL HAVE COLOSTOMY BAGS AND A CHRONIC MEDICAL CONDITION.

Just a quick note...It's Inflammatory Bowel Disease....Irritable Bowl disease...is stress induced...vs. Inflammatory which is autoimmune.

Does Britney Spears even sound like Britney spears without auto tune?

At a certain point my brain disconnected and stopped believing that it was him making the voices.

His female voices are amazing. How does he even do that

"My analogy (at least in the US, but I'd argue it still stands in many societies worldwide) is that racism by white people against non-whites is an 8-lane superhighway, and racism by non-white people against whites is a cow path, half washed away."

Or the ghetto/white trash parties that are so common. Mocking people for being entrenched in poverty that facilitates your wealth is hilarious. But we better not poke some gentle fun at rich white boys. Haven't the rich white boys suffered enough?

okay, first... I flippin' love au jus. Despite the fact that just calling it "au jus" by itself translates poorly/makes no sense and would give my culinary teachers an aneurysm; It's salty perfection and I could easily drink it in public if it were socially acceptable.

I'm a pretty important person but I'm not "sell monogrammed coffee thermoses"-important.

The Moon Wizard story is amazing. Pervin' Merlin with his trinkets and his baby oil.

Probably.
