Perhaps in the sense of reflecting the philosophy of certain figures, and the general events of the Peloponnesian War, but artistically and geographically it embellishes reality to a degree far beyond many of the earlier games in the series, especially its immediate predecessor, Origins, which, by comparison, was very

Sounds like Eddie Gill is kind of an asshole.

This is a pretty well-researched article, but the art historian in me feels the need to correct the mis-identification of the central figure in Botticelli’s Primavera. This character is Venus, not Mary, though those two figures were often conflated in Renaissance art and poetry, so it’s possible that she was meant to

To be fair, that premise is long gone with Odyssey.  There is very little about this game that is in any way historically accurate.

He looks like John Candy’s evil twin.

Fallout 76 players are kind of like the anti-vaxxers of video game fandoms.

Miyazaki comes immediately to mind. David Cage is another.

The PS1 Metal Gear Solid was a genuinely ground-breaking game that basically set the standard for stealth gameplay in the 3D era of gaming, and it had some very clever gameplay twists as well (especially the use of the second controller in certain key moments and the game secretly “reading” your memory card to “learn”

Hideo Kojima is perhaps the most over-rated “auteur” in the entire video game industry.

This right here is the video game equivalent of posting photos of your every meal to social media. It’s today’s self-absorbed always-online culture in a nutshell. What a time to be alive.

This is great to hear, and I hope others read and promote your post.  Keep up the good work!

It’s even more insulting given how useless pretty much the entire Hunter skill tree is in this game.

I can’t help but feel like you haven’t actually done any research into why this show only had 6 episodes for the last two seasons.

What is the point of even trying to 100% the missions in this game?

I think you mean "disintegrates," not "distinguishes."

I don't mind the graphics.  The thing that makes it especially hard to get into for me is the clunkiness of moving through the world itself.  The mechanics of the game require some serious patience that I just don't have anymore.  :)

Also, digital sound effects.

It's especially annoying coming from people who should clearly know better.

I mean, literally everything about it us clunky and tedious unless you are wearing nostalgia glasses. Just moving around the world itself is a chore. I love old games, point and click adventures and crpgs like Baldur’s Gate, but I missed this one growing up, and I’ve tried many times in recent years to get into it,

Too bad it’s basically unplayable today, as the story is literally the only thing about it that still holds up.
