It isn't like they're activating your webcam and watching you play or keylogging you outside of the game. Almost all online services do what they're doing.

I was actually part of the alpha testing for this game. It looks like it has some serious potential.
I wish I had gotten to play something more than the bare bones, though.
They're first and foremost a software company... Specifically with their engine and Steam itself.
Everything else comes secondary to that.
