We should make that into a TV show.

I like to say that fundamentalists should just go to Hebrew School, and not their weird trippy Southern Baptist/”Bible Study College” “Hebrew Classes”, either.

I mean...I’m terrible at Hebrew but at least I have a clue!

That is exactly what they were reacting to...along with burning infants alive with a metal statue or, barring that, tossing them into garbage dumps in a snackrifice ritual.

Pretty sure it was Paul judging the Romans, but whatevs.

Seems so.

Yes, there is a benign interpretation to the rapist thing. Well-meaning, but ultimately foolish: It’s a punishment for the rapist. They become responsible for the well-being of the new wife, including all upkeep, expenses, and nagging. This unfortunately assumes that rapists are not total assholes.

There’s a lot of

Sure enough, that’s who I hold accountable! Then again...when you read things understanding that Paul was a former Pharisee and with the context of him hearkening back towards Leviticus...it almost doesn’t seem that bad. More of an indictment of Roman hedonism than anything else combined with lingering bitterness

Well, I did, but that left me quixotic considering how judgmental the first part was. I mean damn!

Really when you see it all as a guide on what not to do in church, it all seems like pretty good advice. We’ve come full circle, for instance, with the Catholic Church having problems with people doing some of those things.

The Constitution, much like the Bible, is either something they have not actually read, something they do not understand, and/or something they only understand through the lens of what someone has just told them it says.

I direct you to Romans 1.

These types of people typically see the Vatican as full of demon lizard people or something, man.

As a former Jew, THANK YOU. Seriously, it’s not that bad. No-one ever seems to bother to ask us what we actually think. It’s all what some fundamentalist’s made up imaginary interpretation is or King James and what they think of it etc.

It may have, but that’s besides the point because the specific language used by that part of Leviticus referred to Temple worship. As in, this is ritually impure...as in, this is not to be done during or as a part of your rituals.

OK, I’ll play. What does it say that gives you such a nasty itch?

Here’s to hoping we get a Judge who actually knows Biblical languages and writes her up a new one in the dismissal.

Also a history book. Sigh.

How bad is it that I’m only getting this joke after checking this comments section today, several days later and having checked it repeatedly since?

Well, goddamn. Second photo is almost enough to turn me straight.
