Fuck you Elsevier.
Fuck you Elsevier.
Ah gold, when will you return to your historical average (about 1/5 the current price)?
While it may be possible that some of these people have Asperger syndrome, it's also quite possible that, like me, they are ordinary nerds that just have a hard time communicating with "normal people".
Do tell. All I can find is some sort of controversy in Germany, Singapore, and Hong Kong related to the way Flickr interpreted age-restricted content and verification in those countries. I would like to know if there are additional or more substantive censorship activities by the image sharing site.
Although nothing in my flickr account is even PG rated, I decided to keep my photos there and post updates to FB rather than let some admins at FB decide what I could post or how I could use them. I was also concerned about potential ownership rights of the photos if I posted them on FB.
No one forces you to care. If others want to, they may, and they may choose to bitch about it. Maybe that causes the company to change its policy to keep customers. That's how capitalism works.
The first pictured device had another picture shown, here, where there was also a pair of terminals for Z. That's the variable typically used for impedance, but I don't think that makes sense, here. I think it's some kind of early multimeter. You hook it right into the circuit with the B and N terminals, and then…
I guess they were looking for "The Sopranos in Middle Earth".
The whole hashbang url crap is basically a hack that caught on with some people for making their sites more active. More than a few people hate it.
The argument is that the dates were fabricated since there was no birth announcement from a hospital for either child. Personally, I think it's a stretch, but that's the argument. It's in the linked article.
Just wondering, did this Ceglia guy get a degree in creative writing?
Thanks. I are stupid and should look shit up before I make guesses.
We *must* ban atoms! They are dangerous. And chemicals! Nothing good happens with chemicals. Ban them!
The WSJ article is not specific about the reason for the wider evacuation zone, but the lack of swiftness suggests to me that the concern is diffusion of radioactive isotopes, probably in ground water, to surrounding areas. Over a short time, the does is not likely to be significant. However, since the damage from…
@Diogenes-the-Cynic: Yes. It's truly awful. I had heard about it, but I never read about it in any depth. All I can say is that the death of the child.... No one should die surrounded by fearful caretakers, and certainly not a six year old.
Thanks. I'll watch as soon as I get a chance (after the kiddos go to bed).
Oh man, I actually am looking at a Lack Coffee Table right now. It's where I type. (IKEA is part of the Diamonds household's three pillared furniture strategy. The other two are "gifts" and dumpster-diving.)
It's good you bring up maintenance and operation. TEPCO does not have a good record. I would not be surprised if whatever final report there is on this accident blames a mix of poor design and bad choices in the first few days after the earthquake/tsunami. (In particular, they allowed temps to get really high…
On the weirdness of a seven point scale:
Why are those two robot bumble bees in the AP image kissing? Is this a Japanese thing?
