Yeah- I’m old but not THAT grouchy yet!
Yeah- I’m old but not THAT grouchy yet!
Yup. Even for its time- hell, even for THIS time- they went above and beyond for it. It was one of the first games that really ushered a video game Renaissance, where mixing ideas and straying from formulas reaped creative rewards.
I’m not judging the game- in fact, I said it looks good. I’m saying they’re setting themselves up for unfair judgement by begging the comparison. It’s like when a game comes out that compares itself to a “Metroidvania” style of play. You immediately get the attention of people looking to relive those classic…
I never had a chance to play Radiant Historia because it was rare by the time I heard about it- I opted for Avalon Code which was another fantastic swan song DS RPG. My brother seemed to like Radiant Historia, but said it was a little sloggy at parts.
It’s not all about the story. However, a fresh game, whether or not it has fresh gameplay, benefits more in the long run without comparing itself too closely to other games. It may garner instant attention, but it sets it up for a harder fall in the long run.
But Final Fantasy benefits from other forms of continuity and familiarity. For better or worse, you know there are things that will let you know you’re playing a FF game.
Same boat with the re-buying thang. I think Mega Man 2 wins the award for the most re-buys, only because it's the only Mega Man game with an iOS port, giving it a +1 compared to the rest of the series.
Oh please- this is way too romantic and idealistic of a post for a video game.
We’re ALL critics- stop pretending.
Everybody always wants more- I'll never understand that. Chrono Trigger is perfect. It doesn't (and didn't) need a sequel or updated graphics. It doesn't need expansion. Even if the original dream team came together for a sequel, I doubt they could outdo the original and may even hurt the story by trying to expand it.…
Appreciate what? A few moves from an old game?
The game does look good, but when it comes to playing something like Chrono Trigger............ I’ll just play Chrono Trigger. The game has an irreplaceable charm that just can’t be done with better graphics or different characters and scenarios.
Hail to the old dogs- the pioneers of useless internet humor through 56K!!
There are definitely worse ones, ha ha. If I recall, there was one where Diglett was a penis from a much larger man buried underground.
There was a certain sense of earning your place in forums and hunting for and subsequently finding awesome things back then. Nothing feels exclusive anymore and as a result, things feel washed out the second they become popular or viral.
It can be very aggravating at the same time. I have a friend who is my age, but didn’t grow up playing console games. He’s pretty much your classic computer dude who grew up in the 90's frame of computer geek mind (we’re 36).
THE REST OF THE FIRST WORLD DOES WHAT KOREAN NINTENDON’T
OMG NINTENDO=DOOOOMED
Don’t get OP started- this will only result in a heartfelt soliloquy about how detrimental spankings are for the emotional states of the free spirited children of the world. Likely will attribute it solely to men as well.
