Congrats on the trip. As someone who has a (largely unused) degree in Arctic science, I fully support your dream! ;)

If dude 3 is having sex with other people, and still having sex with his wife, he owes it to her to tell her as he has potentially exposed her to STDs. There’s an expectation of personal safety and risk management in a closed monogamous relationship, and bringing other people into that equation without telling other…
Yup, from Winnipeg, lived in Whitehorse. Perfectly reasonable attire.
Okay, real talk, I loved my MD player. No skip, easy to use, all sorts of controls on the cords to the headset so I didn’t need to dig it out of my pockets to change the volume or skip a song, and it was built like a tiny tank with all metal parts that lasted forever. I finally recycled it in 2010 because I just…
It’s a ton of bite sized write ups on ideas and systems within UO, SWG and others. Great for taking in little bits at a time if you are interested in the thoughts and philosophy that goes into game design. You won’t lose the thread of a 200 page book if you’re reading it in intervals. I’ve been enjoying it.
One of my coworkers is from Ireland, and he’s been saying how emotionally tough things have been for his mother, a formerly staunch church-goer. More and more she’s become aware of the church’s issues, and rather than digging in deeper, she’s moving away from the church altogether. It’s left her a little lost because…
Have you ever read Raph Koster’s book “Postmortems”? He has a big section on SWG. Lots of nostalgia going over that one. I generally grow bored with MMOs, but I like to say that I could have grown old with SWG. I had plans for 18 months down the road!
My best friend was a TKM and mourns its loss to this day. :)
I maintain a weird curiosity about reunions, but I’ve never actually looked into my own. This year would be my 30th, I guess. I’ve moved so many times I doubt anyone could track me down unless they sent something to my parents. Seems like it would be weird. I basically had a big group of friends / acquaintances.…
That’s cool. More games need to allow for that kind of creativity. Reminds me of the old days with SWG and the entertainers. I was a crafter, but whether for a buff, or just to get out of the house, I would head to a major city and hang out at a cantina and catch a show. Eventually I got to know a lot of the…
I did Christmas alone because I just have my dad and step-mom in town. All my siblings and my mom’s family live across the country. We watched the new Spider-Man movie, and did our ‘Christmas’ dinner on the 24th. Felt fine to me. Alone isn’t synonymous with lonely.
He’s already got the Peterson defense from his fans.
My brother and I got our first taste of legos in the 70s and 80s. When his kids were born, the giant tupperware box migrated from my mom’s place to his, where it’s been added on to since. Probably end up with a next generation as well.
I have strong thoughts about crafting, haha. Given the option, I will always choose to play a crafter over a combat character in a game. I don’t think you need to feel much guilt for jumping over grind content though. Most games include crafting as a side note anyway. Make 1000 of a thing no one needs until you can…
I don’t have a car, and I use a cane some days, so I looked in to home delivery for groceries and that’s what I do now. For $5 I can get a couple weeks worth of groceries brought right to my door. Since I set that up, my Amazon usage has dropped to nothing. I used to buy bulk dry goods, and pet foods, and the like.…
Ooo, I was messing around with endless mode for a while, but now there’s more fun. I’ve enjoyed the heck out of this game.
Best tends to be a function of who I am playing with. When I go visit my folks, I try to bring a board game for them to try. Deep Sea Adventure and Quirkle have been hits there. When I host a board game night at work, then we tend toward Catan (Knights and Cities expac) and Carcassone, easy entry games for groups.…

I ended up printing out the boxes from board game geek’s files for the cards and monsters. They work well enough. The tokens I tossed in small ziplocs by type, though we’ve recently started 3D printing the scenery and summons. We’ve gotten it down enough now that the five of us (we play it as a 5 player game) can set…

Thumbs up for being visually impaired because 7 out of 10 look pretty much the same to me. :)
I used to work fixing bank hardware, and I didn’t think anyone could out racist BofA, or Wells Fargo, but here we are. Well done. Actually, no, BofA still wins, but nice try, Huntington.
