Heh, yep - I gave my sister the rabies one for Christmas one year. Basically so we could say she got rabies for Christmas. The reactions were fun. But the awful ones are indeed awful.

Unstoppable by radiation, but not by shoes!

Not sure if anyone else has commented this yet (if so, sorry for the repeat - my laptop and Kinja are *not* BFFs right now), but I'd imagine that there isn't a very quick turnaround for magazine material. I'm sure technology has helped it speed up some, but still - did Stewart really have time to stick that in there

All the rodents are sad. Guinea pigs love 'em and my chinchilla is all about them. As he's getting bigger, he's upgrading to paper towel rolls. Maybe you can cut those for your gerbils?

Been there! I'm currently "transparent," which figures since I've been joking that I'm pretty much at a see-through level of pale for ages.

My first thought was how loud the hair dryer is for a little one, especially since their ears can be sensitive to loud noises. I never blow dry my hair since I always feel a bit deaf afterwards (also: laziness). The makeup time shouldn't be too bad to be around (unless she puts it in her mouth), but the hair time

31 and in the same boat :-\ but I see this and think that I couldn't afford medical bills, so playing with fire is currently out of the question

Agreed - I'm shy about my own medical issues, but I've been so close to posting something like that list on FB a million times. I want to post it so people can stop asking and saying truly awful things (most mean well/just don't know better because they've been blessed with good health) but I also fear it will bring

I agree that that list can be helpful. I haven't used that one, but I have been SO close to posting similar ones on FB. I have a few different health issues (the most irritating of which is an autoimmune disease) and many people really don't get it (I try to stay focused on being happy that others have their health

I remember someone warning/judging/telling me that it was soon to be illegal because of the dangers of mixing an "upper" (the caffeine/Red Bull) and a "downer" (the alcohol/vodka). I poised the question: "so they'll be taking all the Irish coffees and soda-based drinks off the menus too?" They thankfully took their

Very true! I have an older relative headed to Africa later this month and they've raised a great deal of money to go and build tons of these devices that make drinking water safe to drink. They're making water safe for thousands of people. Yes, there are teams imposing their beliefs (for good or ill), but there are

Perhaps the lady scientists saw Lego plastic surgeons (as seen in the recent Simpsons/Lego episode)? I was glad to see the Simpsons people poke fun at the figures. Note: It's only a quick background gag that Marge and Homer are walking by.

Wow, now I wish I had waited a few more months to get my new glasses. I bought another pair of my old frames on eBay (because they were no longer carried in the store and the store's selection was awful - too much trendy nonsense) for a little over $100 (cheaper than their original MSRP at least), then Lens Crafters

Ha! I worked at Disneyland for a few years while in grad school and that is seriously the attitude of many guests. You can tell people not to do something for their own safety - even in a polite manner - and some of them are just that pissed that they can't do whatever they want. I understand wanting things your way

This is possibly the first time ever I've been happy to live in Anaheim - I'm apparently three miles from the closest Habit Burger (apparently there are several fairly close and I've never heard of them even though I've lived in CA four years). So excited to try this. (Yes, my life is that sad.)

The ones in the pet stores I go to always look like full-grown/older adults, so I'd assume they've already formed their personalities. Slightly younger ones are extra adorable, plus you have more time to bond with them as they're developing (and it's fun to watch them get bigger!). I found my little guy on craigslist,

Unlike the ones I met at the pet store (who seem a little shy - probably from being harassed by small children all day), my little guy (Pippin) is extremely outgoing, curious, and friendly. I got him pretty small and young, from a guy whose pair had mated, so he's been raised with a lot of close human contact. He

My chinchilla enjoys ruining books as well. Thankfully no first editions, but some older editions. He has to be supervised at all times. :-\

That's all I even wanted - to not have to bother with the really ridiculously low writing/English classes. No such luck at my university! I took the classes (which were pretty much remedial level) when I was taking my harder coursework so they'd balance things out but it was otherwise a complete waste of my time,

Depends on the school. My AP scores didn't count for anything at my university because they figured they'd get more tuition money if students had to take more courses (and couldn't opt out of any).
