I find this very disturbing. Not sure why 'cause I guess these people technically volunteered to put up with crap like this, but I dunno—this just feels really pervy. No me gusta.

Alan Rickman. He's the first one that popped into my brain, followed my Emma Thompson as a close second.

As a kid, I had a pet turtle bite off half the pad of my finger. Periodically, the skin of the scar still peels away independent of the skin around it.

Agreed. Some folks are okay with a no alcohol rule, some aren't, and both are okay so long as the rules are discussed up front before any lease-signing or money-exchanging.

Turtle sex videos? Is that a thing? I'm too scared to find out for myself. I once accidentally got a "monkey masturbates with a frog" video from a coworker, so I think this may actually be A Thing.

I can't decide how I feel about knowing only half these people (which is actually a high estimate). I think "old" is winning out.

Ah. Yeah. So location played into it. :) I grew up in suburban Texas, but I had an amazing sex ed class in high school, mostly because I lived in an area with a really large Mormon and Baptist population. Even as a naive kid, I appreciated the frank, matter-of-fact approach to contraception, human reproductive

Anyone else wish we could set up fake "medical" crisis centers for other things just to give people a better idea of just how WTF all this is? Like sitting down a man and telling him very earnestly that Viagra increases a man's chance of developing penile gangrene by 53.2%, and that it'd ruin all future relationships

Wow. Just wow. Where did you grow up? Or did location not play into it?

That made me snort water. It may not be a thing, but I'm making it a thing now. Too funny!

Ha! There's an "Orange is the New Black" joke in there somewhere, but I'm too brain dead today to find it.

You just articulated everything I couldn't figure out how to say. Agree 100%.

Doctor Who is the show that makes me cry the most. I'm not a big crier, but Doctor Who gets me so many times! Gah, I hate it and I love it but I hate it (but really I love it)!

Yes! A million times yes. All the tears.

I was so spoiled by the Alamo Drafthouse (no kids under 6 allowed except for special viewings only) that when I went to see "Wreck-It Ralph" at the regular theater in my new town, my first thought was, "What are all these kids doing here??"

I agree. Admittedly, I'm still a novice gamer, but I've been easing my way into it for a few years now. There's a few reasons why I just haven't jumped in and started paddling, but one of the biggest is seeing the reactions so many male gamers have to the depiction of women. To me, that's worse than the tropes

Never thought I'd say this about a turtle, but that picture is totally adorable.

No, I thought the same thing. And what about the lucky women like me who don't usually have issues with their periods? Why would I get those days off when other folks don't? Privilege associated with gender can cause all sorts of problems. Which we know already. :)

At the same time, though, is not acknowledging that being in constant pain, even a faded version on pain killers, falls back on the female trope of "I have to be amiable and helpful at all times"?

I have to admit, I also enjoy the irony that so many people freaked out about Jane Austen being printed on their money and then other people (or the same people?) freaked out about items once belonging to her leaving the country. Is she a historical icon or isn't she?
