Except Piech demanded performance, comfort, and build quality and Winterkorn wanted lower CO2 and higher profit. VW isn’t being investigated for their trunk struts being too capable.

This is so completely obvious and yet you can see the denial on here.. The Ferrari 250 GTO was the most expensive car in the world in its day. The inflation adjusted price is about $150K in today’s dollars.

I don’t care what anyone says Caged Gone in 60 Seconds had some seriously fun moments, the one you pointed out being a perfect example.

Quick & dirty answer: Everything a car manufacturer, or rather a dealership sells you, they mark up and make a profit off of. So the more shit they cram in beyond bare bones, the more money someone makes.

Wow, those are actually good points.

That doesn’t surprise me. My mom had gotten fed up with the unreliability of her ‘95 Aurora, but this was a couple months after GM announced Olds would be shutting down. The only way to get out of that Aurora at anything better than basically giving it away, was to buy another Oldsmobile.

Yeah I am not sure where the enthusiasm for these is coming from. They both sound horrendous, even if “done right,” which they guaranteed won’t be. I’m just seeing some really big, really ugly novelty vehicles with all the retro appeal of the PT Cruiser coming down the pipe.

One ran at the last autox I was at. So dope.

Er... really?

Do I?

I am in Chicago suburbs and on 96+ vehicles they only plug into OBD2 port and check for check engine light. If one has headers without catalityc converters and a tune which makes the check engine light not come on that vehicle can pass.

So GM pays $900mm for a defect that killed people.

You need to Shake It Off, there’s barely even a Blank Space between us.

Collin,

Check out the Street 750.

This is definitely search engine click-bait developed to drive eyes to advertising - nothing more.

One for going fast.

What an incredibly well written article. I learned so much. Never knew the difference between low and high bypass designs, but this information makes it so easy to understand what is going on. I have seen B52s with thick, black smoke and always wondered why they did that. Very nice work here Collin. Look forward to

Those are obviously an Me-163 and a Harrier :P
