Get a tune for it. I have a stage one untronic chip in my TDI. about 300lbs of torque and 170hp. Really improves the car.
No, I agree with you. But since this article was about horsepower I was fairly general in my lb/hp suggestions. Mainly my assumption being torque wasn’t an afterthought. I had 525lb/ft of torque and “only” 315hp in my old BMW 335d and well...let’s just say the HP wasn’t what I grabbed my attention.

You can still get a base 320i with a manual transmission, just checked it.
Merely reposting the same images everyone has already seen is not an effective way to defend your point.
I’m not complaining, but I am skeptical of the claim that the turbo-fours will be lighter than the outgoing sixes. Turbocharging adds a not insignificant bit of weight to an engine, with the turbos themselves, longer intake piping, heavier exhaust manifolds, intercoolers and increased engine cooling capacity.
I would also like to see a graphic of all the “excess” vehicles we left/destroyed in Afghanistan as we pulled back military operations in 2014. I heard it was in the thousands of vehicles.
I moved from North Carolina to Chicago roughly 4 years ago. At the time I owned a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T which was rubbish in the snow even with winter tires. I would not recommend a Mustang for a number of reasons:
How about the same WRX on snow tires instead of all-seasons? It seems a bit ridiculous to say a FWD with better tires (snow tires in this case) is better at X/Y than an AWD vehicle with all-seasons when they don’t share the same rubber, even more so when you’re talking about snow tires. With the same tires setup the…
You SAY that you gave up on owning a cool car, but then immediately say you’re driving a Mk6 TDI DSG? replace Cool with Powerful, and I might be with you. I definitely would think the Mk6 TDI w/dsg to be cool :)
This is the whole truth. It should be illegal to own a car in Chicago without owning snow tires. Also, potholes/cops/traffic/and let’s not forget the fact that the whole damn state is flat and boring to drive.
As a fellow Chicagoan who used to own a supercharged Elise (which was of course 30k) when I lived in other cities you could actually drive, I can’t agree with this more. I sold my Evo when I got here because unless you really like getting up early to open it up down LSD, that is about the extent of awesome driving…
Dear reader “Dave”:
So the industry that claims to have a shortage of drivers would like to use tech to put what drivers there are out of work? Hm.
...Really?
Is this a serious question?
