What? We will get Robocops or a 40th anniversary re-issue of the first gen Taurus. Both are acceptable outcomes for me.

My sister just had her second and she tells me the same thing. I've not had any children myself, but I feel for you. Good luck!

Sleep on it.

Take. Your. Time.

Incredible bike. And possibly the most effective natural selection device ever produced. Many, many bros will meet their demise on this crotch rocket.

That barrier can take much more than 50 mph. They're not going to give you the actual factor of safety to something like this and I would bet money it's much higher than what's listed.

Why isn't Ralph Giles running all of Chrysler?

I think this calls for a Gilles vs. Lutz battle for supremacy!

CTS-V wagon driver checking in.

One thing I love even more about the man is that he can drive. Labor day 2013 we had an autocross at Grattan Raceway and Ralph showed up in an stock Viper GTS on Hoosier A6s. He absolutely blazed in that thing, against some damn well setup track-dedicated cars.

When manufacturing anything like this the engineers keep in mind the normal distribution of its failure point (FMEA). And maintains that the failure point is well below the target minimum of the specification.

Three words: Factor of Safety. Every structural component, be it a building foundation, a bridge, a cantilevered beam, and yes a security barricade, is designed with a factor of safety, typically between 1.1 and 1.5 or as high as 2.0; maybe higher on very critical components. Even with a FS of 1.4 that would have an

At most secure locations like where I work there is a sharp turn of impenetrable obstacles before any barriers that trucks can't negotiate at more than 10mph or so. This lowers the mass needed for the movable barriers that we drive over. For a static barrier like this I imagine the same sort of setup would be

The factor of safety is probably very high. Probably enough to still stop a truck going about 70mph or more.

Because to get universities involved, you have to make projects that can be published, so the research group/university can get some cred out of it. Research that they deem worthy of security is well secured, and it is performed at government controlled labs like Sandia, Army Research Lab, etc.

Look at how it works. The faster the truck is going the more dead the driver. There isn't a speed this barrier won't work at..... for that truck and trucks of roughly similar construction.

Reverse psychology? Plus, this thing gave zero fucks about a truck going 50. It's tolerance seems to be much, much higher. Even if it was to fail in stopping the truck completely, it would sure give the men and women with the M2's enough time to tear it to shreds.

I literally just finished firing off emails to 4 Chrysler dealers using a tactic many people have recommended.

I saw it as Superman being untested and untrained and making a spur of the moment decision to kill Zod or let those civilians die. I hope the next movie explores him trying to better himself because of that.

That's actually the plot of Injustice.
