I personally wouldn’t mind.  If my inconvenience in taking a test every ten years helps keep unskilled or otherwise risky drivers off the road until they get recertified, I’m all for it.

Good for Steve Guttenberg helping out.  As for the 64-yr old, we really need elderly re-testing and certification on driving ability.  Only a Mercedes was lost here, fortunately she didn’t plow into a farmers market, as has happened and will again.

As an aside - every time I see someone whip out the telescoping baton and smack someone with it on TV/movies, the victim crumples like they’ve just been shot. It doesn’t look like it would hurt that much; is there something about its construction which transmits force that much more effectively? I don’t plan on…

That is her car.  There are many like it but that one is hers.  Or something.  Honestly, her jumping in and driving it away could maybe give insurance a loophole on not providing coverage...perhaps something about putting herself in a dangerous situation, or that she caused some of the damage, etc.
