I think that’s all fair. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if the RR Sport doesn’t jump in price in its next iteration as a result. And yes, this does move RR more into a true crossover direction, away from the more capable models.

They are definitely making a distinction of Land Rovers being “near luxury” and Range Rovers being “real luxury”. We can debate whether there is much of an actual distinction, but the Velar is overall going to look a little nicer than the Discovery, if not by much.

Mine is not bone stock anymore – the previous owner added a winch, I added a rear locker and an upgraded radiator. There is also in excess of 200 liters of diesel capacity. It’s got OME Heavy suspension, and it’s in the process of being fitted with better lights.

Charging off the grid during non-peak times is likely still more efficient than individual gasoline engines and the infrastructure they require.
