"But because there are so few blacks writing, whichever black point of view is presented is often taken as broadly representative and whoever pens it enjoys an air of inflated authority when talking about African-Americans or racism, with little pushback from the very few minority writers or from white audiences."

Well, he was presented as the "Anti-Whitlock" in a piece that destroys Whitlock , that's pretty "pro-Scoop"...

I know this is Deadspin, but this was such a compelling piece, I hope you don't ruin it with ad hominem attacks on Whitlock...

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion here (if it's even seen), but I can't help read this and feel troubled that black men can so easily calling out another as an "Uncle Tom", but will steadfastly refuse to disparage anyone in Whitlock's loathed hip-hop community for anyone of their negative behaviors and

"their word for soccer is sakka" "put their drum behind the goal, and led the chanto"

"the Japanese appropriated soccer from the West. Team names like Yokohama FC mimic the Europeans; their word for soccer is sakka; their chants (chanto) are all in English (the Red Diamonds' songs include "Pride of Urawa Reds," "Hey Ho, Let's Go," and "Urawa Reds, We Love You")"
