see im the other way around. I skipped out on the PS3 entirely and went 360 and have been in the microsoft ecosystem for a while. I have a PS4 that’s mostly collected dust aside from a few exclusives, and I picked up a used PS5 for similar reasons, exclusives like FF7 and then either to be resold or to collect dust.

More options in general would just be good. More console games should have them honestly. Just put a disclaimer that some things could look weird if you turn down the shadow or anti aliasing quality

Eh, the scores can be a decent indicator of whether or not they’re worth your time to even try. Below a certain score threshold, there’s going to be technical issues that gave them that score. Above a certain score, you can be sure the game itself is at least stable, well designed, and functional. As to the APPEAL of

It does look softer, but I just can’t, I need my 60fps.

Champions of physical games typically highlight the ability to trade or sell unwanted games, which platform owners artificially block when it comes to digital purchases.

Yeah that’s the one thing that i lament about moving from a PS4 to PC. hate having to wait for those Sony exclusives but I don’t hate it enough to spend 500+ for the privilege lol.

we’re reaching previously unseen levels of inventing a guy to get mad at on the internet.

I would please like one order of Dead Rising set on a mega cruise ship.

I’m not sinking half a grand for one game, especially when the game inevitably comes to PC either this winter or next year. I’m anticipating other games this spring.

i also think there’s this ‘sony will definitely revert to how they were 15 years ago’ mentality, which i think is silly. they’ve been in such a lead this whole time it’s clear that these ‘good’ decisions they’ve been making aren’t based on competition, but the fact that they actually make them money.

I mean, hasn’t Xbox always been kind of curiosity? Like it was surprising when MS launched the original one, and there have been several points where people openly wondered if they would keep at it as a console hardware manufacturer when they have all these other businesses that print money and dwarf Xbox

The only justifiable reason for taking a console/format war seriously is if your paycheck literally depends on it.

Now playing

Good list! A few more (in addition to Harold Halibut, which I put in another comment):

Ok, but the competition will still exist in the form of: should I buy this game, or this other game? Then the better game will win out. When VHS (post-Beta) were still a thing, we didn’t have to worry about which VCR played which tape. We just rented the movie we most wanted to watch.

Jesus Christ right? Like, when? That’s money just on the table. Also, Guns of the Patriots on PC and PS5.

I’m a lifelong console gamer, but I hate consoles. I like Playstation. My longtime gamer friends have XBoxes. I’d love for more games to be cross-platform and crossplay multiplayer. Exclusivity is only good for the console makers.

This.   Making games multiplatform is always a win for gamers.  I don’t personally care to play Starfield, but I know at least a few people who will be ecstatic they can play it on their PS5 if this is true.  I would also support Sony and Nintendo making their exclusives multiplatform.

More players being able to access games the better

I mean, limiting your releases to one platform just means less money from sales.

Console exclusivity is dumb and we should do away with it.
