Tried to do...what exactly? Nothing in this trailer suggests that they’ve amped up combat and made the game more actiony. It’s just a trailer focusing specifically on combat, something that the original game had (and was criticized for its clunkiness).

The justification for horrible combat is usually “it’s not scary if the character’s able to fight”. Making the enemies more capable is a pretty obvious way to keep enemies threatening without making the MC move like a tank.
