What are you talking about? The whole point of minstrel shows was to portray black people in a negative light. The performers knew that would offend black people. They just didn’t care.

I gave an example in this thread. A white, female cosplayer wanted to accurately cosplay a black, male character. So she created a full bodysuit, complete with fake muscles and everything. She chose to make the suit’s skin black because the character was black and the suit needed a skin color.

Disappointed by the low usage for the greenskins (half-orcs and githyanki) and shorties (dwarf, gnome, halfling). Not really surprising but those stats do encourage developers to not bother making those races/species playable in future RPGs. The short races in particular must have been a ton of work for Larian, given

It’s not that bizarre. Mercy is one of the most popular OW characters and her skins most definitely sell better than Lifeweaver’s skins. If you don’t have the budget to make skins for every character, you’ll prioritize the most popular characters.

Basically boils down to profit. They don’t have the budget to make every skin for every character because most of those skins wouldn’t sell well enough to justify the cost. So, the most popular characters get the most skins.

A lederhosen skin would be amazing. That said, there are examples of non-white characters receiving skins based on different cultures. Hanzo has a Cupid skin. D.Va and Mei have Christmas skins. Doomfist has a One Punch Man, Karate and Jotunn skin. Pharah has a Qinglong skin.

I’m guessing Mercy skins make a lot more money than Lifeweaver skins so it made more business sense to give her the skin.

Because the cosplayer created a full bodysuit and had to pick a skin color? What logical reason would she have to not use the character’s actual skin color?

The original comment was pretty flagrant flamebait intended to antagonize PC gamers. That you agree with the poster’s opinion doesn’t really change the fact that it was, for all intents and purposes, trolling. He wasn’t trying to start a productive discussion. He was just shitposting. I think the response he got was

Your inability to distinguish between blackface and the act of changing your skin color is pretty much exemplifying the issue I’m describing. It would be nice if you could actually address my specific points.

The problem is that the term “black face” specifically refers to the historical context in which racists would paint their faces black in order to perform racist caricatures. That’s a very specific context that does not apply to all instances of someone modifying the color of their skin.

I’m not sure how Asian cultures being racist contradicts my statement in any way. The cosplayer I referenced was white and was cosplaying a LoL character. LoL is a western game.

Opinions should be based on facts and logic. Emphasis on “should.” For example, if I say “I don’t like apples because I’m lactose intolerant,” that’s a stupid opinion because apples don’t contain lactose. As such, that opinion isn’t based on facts or logic. Conversely, if I say “I don’t like apples because I have

Again, context is important. If you’re cosplaying as a racist caricature and you find that racist caricature appealing, it’s reasonable to conclude that you’re probably racist.

While I can respect trying to avoid potential discomfort, I’ll always believe that opinions need to supported by logic. Changing your skin color so you can perform a racist caricature in a minstrel show? Yeah, that’s racist. Changing your skin color to accurately cosplay a black character you like? Not racist. Context

I like how you specifically excluded the preceding sentences that explain my opinion. Here, I’ll quote the whole thing:

The scope of the improvements to W3 doesn’t quite match Cyberpunk’s. CDPR completely overhauled CP’s skill trees and cyberware system, reworked the police system, reworked the loot system, reworked the hacking system, reworked the consumable system, etc, while adding new features and content (shooting/attacking while

Do you genuinely believe the GTA games are perfect and can’t be improved in any way? This might shock you but a game can have flaws and still be very successful. Crazy, I know!

There was a case where a white female cosplayer made a full-body costume for a black male character. This was a body suit with fake muscles and everything. Naturally, the body suit had a dark pigmentation to match the character’s. People freaked out about this and accused her of using blackface.

I appreciate your attempts at sarcasm but they’re woefully misguided because I never claimed that GTA5 was a failure. I just said that Rockstar needs to improve its core mechanics, which is true. Max Payne 3 has better movement and combat than GTA5 and GTA6 will have stronger movement and combat if it learns from MP3.
