The first rockets did nothing but explode and now are extremely reliable. I think it’s a little early to say this isn’t going to pan out. What should he do, go home and cry?

I think the problem was that the shuttle wasn’t actually that reusable. But if you can solve that problem then this all makes sense. Don’t forget that the shuttle had several massive boosters strapped to it that were not reusable.
You short $TSLA bro?
Yeah, I think they’re really missing why this is a fundamental change. Everyone is stuck in the possibly-now-outdated mindset of mass is everything.
I think you’re still missing the point. Assume that Musk is right and you have a perfect autonomous rocket that can be used over and over. At that point weight doesn’t matter because it’s only about fuel and fuel is cheap.
Weight is only about fuel and reusability. I think you’re still not thinking about this right. Assuming Musk is right and you can reuse autonomous rockets over and over, then the only thing that matters is fuel.
Fuel is cheap.
Have you ever floored a tesla? You might lose your lunch.
Have you driven a Tesla? They kind of are magic.
Only Tesla would get dinged for not reporting a single car crash.
Ha. So five adults or me and two friends.
I’m not super rich either but mostly I’m 6'6" :). Word is the 3 will have more headroom but we'll see...
I know. I have a fake counter in my head of how many more times I have to leave my garage driving my current car. Like just 623 more to go.
I think Elon should spend more time building my Model 3 and less time fighting with people but I also think he’s right.
Take another hit buddy.
It would be more interesting if there were some dark purpose, but I suspect it's just stupidity.
I wouldn’t bother arguing with the horse-and-buggy crowd.
He was definitely kidding
Not that I think Faraday Future is anything to write home about, but if you subscribe to the notion that Silicon Valley is Detroit 2.0 then this doesn’t seem so crazy.
I wonder what you would consider impressive...
