If you have an emotional connection to a Nissan Versa, seek help.

It is the privately owned ordinary cars that are the true losses, because those are cars people cared enough for to tranship rather than replace. They meant something to someone, and that is a shame to lose those emotional connections.

I in the airfreight industry. I read in some industry paper a few years ago that the market could easily accommodate 10-12 AN225s.

I’d like to think I could make it more than two miles.

Left rear looks 1.5 psi off. Dealership used an Analog gauge.

Agree, and it’s not just “the government” it’s a COUNTY government. Which I do not want in charge of deciding what is a vessel and what is not, without regard as to what the US Government thinks. If it’s capable of being underway and making way, it’s a boat. I’m ready to eat all of the rich...unless they live in

Totally agree. The emotional part of me wants it to be taxed as a house, but the logical part of me (which is most of me) completely agrees with the owner and with you. In fact, I tip my cap to the guy.

If it’s already registered with the Coast Guard, I’m assuming that it meets all CG requirements for a vessel of it’s type.

So I double checked - Florida DOES tax boats at 6% of the value.  But Florida changed the law to cap the tax bills for boats to $18,000.  So the owner instead of paying 6% of $3.3 million, would be capped at $18,000.  So nearly a 90% discount versus a home...

The casino boat I worked at briefly in college had to fire up the engines and move once per year to remain legally a boat. While this was a river boat and in a different state, it was still a boat who’s entire existing was a legal loophole.

As much as I often complain about the tactics of the rich in avoiding and at times outright evading taxes with impunity I am completely with the boat owner here.

same, I thought it was attached to the land and just happened to float but clearly that’s not the case. just because it’s not designed to go very fast or go out to sea doesn’t disqualify it as a boat just like a barge is still a boat.

The whole earth is a ship flying through space.

Me too - I was going to say... ehhh... this is a stretch.

Since all the tectonic plates float on magma, we all live on boats too and are not subject property tax.

Honestly, I was ready for this to be wayyy less boat-like than it is.

Ok, my history nut side just got activated.

“Six antifa vehicles! Six antifa vehicles,” a trucker said over the CB radio. “Keep your heads on a swivel!” another trucker yelled.

Not a slideshow! Our gripes have been heard!

I’m only a capitalist when it’s convenient for me and fits my narrative, dammit!
