The phantom breaking isn’t from things like leaves or bugs. It’s typically present on multi-lane highways when encountering shadows due to overpasses, etc where the cameras get confused or on a two lane undivided road where the car thinks the oncoming car is going to hit you or come into your lane. I turned on basic…
I see Whole Mars Catalog is cheerleading as usual.
LIDAR losers, none of whom have managed to build a successful business in over a decade
On some level I am waiting for Elon to announce that silicon neural nets aren’t keeping up with the pace of the world, and that they need to tap into biological ones...
Coming Soon: Tesla BMI (Brain Machine Interface) — tap into homo sapien neural nets via rapid interface devices (some in the form of hand wheels and…
my money is on “phantom braking” being induced by a big bug or a leaf coming into view and rapidly approaching the camera, triggering the obstruction ahead logic, something a human eye/brain would recognize and disregard, but it is very hard to teach a camera/computer that kind of context.
blaming this on Obama is one of the dumbest things ever written in the comments of this site and that’s a very low bar.
Citizens United locked that problem down to a level that now requires either a 2nd Supreme Court decision or a Constitutional Amendment. Corporations and the mega-wealthy were given a LOT more control over politicians with that John Roberts/Tea Party decision.
How? Do you actually have names of politicians that will do anything to curb this behavior? And, if you do, do you have enough names to create a majority?
This is why rich people buy politicians. It’s the best way for them to stay rich.
Agree to disagree. I like the butch looks, and it is very on-brand for Hummer. I think they’ll sell well, even at that price.
I would want to know how they would handle a non-celebrity involved in the same crash. Would that person be given the same consideration for their privacy? If so, I agree there’s no reason to treat Woods differently. If he’s getting special treatment, though, I have an issue with that.
And what could the suspect’s goal possibly have been?
Torch, serious question.....can you PLEEEEEEASE do an article featuring a car designed from all your favorite items like this. Your own The Homer, if you will. The Torch. Please? PLEEEEEEEAAAAASE????
Nothing like spending $100K on a car so it can look like a $3K Honda civic with a spash of fake carbon fiber on the center console.
you’re still using your hands on that drive? i thought at that point the default was the knee.
So, cruising across the Canadian prairie on the Trans Canada highway at 125 km/h, with two thumbs on the bottom of the steering wheel, keeping things straight... that’s bad?
For maximum control, 9 and 3, with thumbs inside the wheel over the spokes. That’s the whole reason that there’s a spot for your thumbs on racing wheels:
Interesting. When I started doing track days I was always told to do 9 and 3, which is how I’ve driven since.
Man, the bank REALLY doesn’t wanna give Falcon a loan.
