A rain out may be considered ‘Force Majeure’, or act of god, because nothing can be done to control the weather. Unsecured manholes are negligence on the part of the race organizers. It’s their job to make sure the track was in proper condition.

He already has a BMW 3 series, so I’m a bit surprised no one mentioned the M8. A big, comfortable GT car with over 600hp and can be had in coupe or convertible form. Seems to be pretty objectively good looking, better driving than the LCF, and he’d be somewhat familiar with most of the BMW quirks already.

The good news from the Emissions Analytics article is that the harmful pollutants being produced by tires is something that can be reduced based on the chemicals used in the production of tires:

A valid question. Based on what I understand of the auto industry chip shortage, I would guess the latter. My knowledge is just based on what I read in the news, but the way I understand it is that there are plenty of modern chips available in the market place. The auto industry utilizes older chips because they’re

I’m in the process of buying a BMW I ordered and I’m actually not mad about this. The fact that they were able to get the hardware installed means I may have to wait for the software to catch up and get pushed to my car, but I won’t have to take it back into a dealer, and it won’t be de-contented long term.

I see it more as a beacon to jump start an industry that they’ve had there before, and lure people back who left because of the war. This is a big shining project that the government and people can point to as a reason to return and show that things are turning around when that day hopefully comes.

Ukraine isn’t just farmland. They have plenty of well educated people that want engineering and logistics positions. They also have millions of people who are refugees. This might be a bit of a vanity project, but it can also be a beacon to people that there are good jobs for them to come back to.

The company can’t afford to rebuild it and has launched a crowdfunding campaign to see it happen. However, given the conditions of the country right now that money would probably be better spent on supporting the people.

Eh this is a debate that’s been around for many years. Gas, utilities, medication, and all other inelastic goods should probably have more controls over them, but no one can ever agree on how to implement those controls.

I actually own an SUV right now. I want cars to be an option though.

I would appreciate if Audi, BMW, or any of these companies that say they want to really invest in electric would provide an actual car that can compete with a Tesla Model 3. I don’t want an SUV, and there is nothing on the market even close to the Model 3 in terms of price, range, and just being a normal car.

No, Nissan is going into cosmetics!

Is the engine noise piped in, or can you hear the V8 pretty well from the cabin?

My sister has a 2020 330i and it does the exact same thing. I think it may be a thing with the newest ones.

Disagree, I had a 2014 228i that allowed me to turn it off always. This is a 2020 X5 and it turns ASS back on every time I turn the car on. Have not found any way to defeat it completely.

I’m not sure if it actively applies the brakes or what, but I can say for a certainty that the car actively tries to get itself to a full stop when AS/S is enabled and in a situation that the car wants to apply it.

I abhor the AS/S on my BMW. It actually makes the car try to stop even though I’m decreasing pressure on the brake pedal.

Well he also specifically stated he didn’t want boring also. I don’t think he would have come to the collective group for car ideas if the answer he was looking for was simply a 2005 Camry.

The ones you buy for $5k aren’t generally as reliable. And if he did need to repair it, he wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it himself.

Did everyone miss the part where he specifically states, “I would be lost on a modern engine and modern electronics.”
