Los Angeles, CA: Winter? What winter? We didn't have a winter. It went straight from fall to spring and now we have summer. I'm sick and tired of East Coast pundits bitching and complaining about this supposed "global warming hoax" based on their local weather. Meanwhile it was boiling hot in February out here.

Substrate Autonomous Person sounds a lot like social media especially from a digital perspective. Social media, MMORPGs, Second-Life, drone warfare these are all examples. Indeed there will be extensions of this and the term is definitely a good expression for these forms of encounters.

I'm torn. On the one hand it was an old movie that could use an upgrade especially in special effects. At the same time why not just make a brand new movie instead of a remake?

Fans won't necessarily make or break a movie but, they do create buzz which is what gets everyone's attention in the first place. Whether it's good buzz or bad buzz doesn't seem to matter.

R2-D2

Godzilla was just a bad movie. It belongs on the list of bad movies that made a lot of money which really really needs to be it's own subject.

That's my take on most of the movies on this list. In of themselves they are good movies but, they don't do justice to the source material. Particularly the Star Trek movies. As a movie fan I loved them but, as a Star Trek fan I wasn't impressed.

Great! Now when are going to get usable carbon nano-tubes? They could be the defining technology of the 21 century... besides the internet.

Wow, I'm not the only person who likes Superior Spiderman? That's awesome.

You beat me to it. I was going to vote for this series also.

Wait. I was supposed to feel guilty about that?

I went to Hebrew school with a blonde blued eyed Jew so I know they exist. If you dirty up the blonde hair you might make it more believable. But, what better enemy to send against blonde blue eyed super Nazis than a blonde blued eyed Jew. He looks like everything they're fighting for. Think about it you're fighting

I thought it was a perfect adaptation myself as well as any movie can be adapted from a graphic novel in any case. You can't do a one to one translation when it comes to adaptations especially with Watchmen.

As someone who had read Dune I really liked the Sci Fi Channel's mini series. Not an absolutely perfect recreation it stuck pretty well to the story and definitely got the feel right.

I got that ending but, it was still a let down.

I'm asking this question for the sake of philosohical discourse but, why do we need to determine the genre of Godzilla?

Neil actually said his comments were a compliment to the quality of the film:

Fatal Flaw: Cold war is long over.

I love giant robot fiction and mecha anime but, I have to make this very clear to everyone: giant robots are completely implausible. No one will ever be able to build a functional working giant robot let alone use it to fight battles. The forces on the joints alone would rip apart. They also completely impractical for
