Would you even be able to see the car in front of you?  Or the car in front of that one?  How do you see brake lights in traffic?  What about vertically challenged pedestrians in a crosswalk?  What about coming over a rise, just hope for the best?

You are so right here. Chevy wants to charge up to 42K for the Bolt. A Cruze with an electric powertrain. While waiting for my Model 3 I gave the Bolt a fair test drive. It felt very cheap inside. Painted plastic everywhere, no sunroof available, narrow seats, choppy ride. Great powertrain. It felt like a 18K car.

I got my Model 3 because long-term it’s about the cheapest car out there. I’ve spent less than $100 to drive it over 7,000 miles, $500 if I count insurance. The biggest cost so far was charging it during a 1000 mile road trip, ~$60.

Why do you think they are rich? Because they don’t throw money around.  If you take care of the pennies, the dollars take care of themselves.

They let the batteries cook in their own juices, just like before.

My Model 3s batteries are warranted to lose no more than 20% of capacity in 8 years and 120K miles. And, according to this chart, I have nothing to worry about:

What’s really amazing is that both steering wheels/stalks can do pretty much the same things, without using the touchscreen or voice commands. Well, on the Tesla it also does direction selection and Enhanced AutoPilot, so the Tesla actually does more.
