Thanks. It is popsicle sticks wood-glued together then sanded to shaped and depth and stained. I got the technique from Noodles

It is an instagram thing. People build a booth and vehicles and tag them. The tags are #164semashow & #164semashow2020

Can confirm, Ford engineers seem to have a “Eff the mechanics” attitude. My current “toy” is an ‘87 Colony Park wagon. I have literally had parts held on with half metric and half standard fasteners. The Ford approved method for replacing (the weak and shitty) window motors involves drilling three 1/2" holes in the Read more

From an actual job standpoint was also a waterpump. The 3.8 had no business being installed in the Ford Taurus engine bay, and every job on that engine was a study in tight fits. Like you, the water pump was longer than the space between the studs on the engine and frame rail, but it went right in the block, so no Read more

Frustrating from a diagnostic standpoint was the rough running of my ‘64 C10. As part of a 20 day thrash-fest that incuded sandblasting the frame forward of the firewall, replacing every wear part on the front suspension, & upgrading to disc brakes on the front, I had replaced the old engine with one with 14K on a Read more

This just continues my thought that Tesla vehicles are from a technology standpoint something I want to own, but Tesla the company is exactly the kind of disaster of a company I don’t want to do business with. Read more

Around here (Rhode Island), the Comcast sprinter vans I’ve seen have their mercedes logos removed and replaced with a huge circle with “SPRINTER” written across it in small letters. I suspect for a similar “They must be charging me too much for cable if the service guys drive mercedes.” BS.

The USPS is the *only* government agency that is required to pre-fund their pension plan for 70 years. The Republicans specifically wrote legislation for and only for the USPS. If this was about financial accountability they would have done it across the board. Paying in full now for the pensions of employees who have Read more

I Like the idea of the hood on the roof, I’ll definitely implement that idea.

In my last house there was a former vent between the kitchen ceiling and the 2nd floor hallway (house predated central heating). When I closed it up, I put a thrift store teddy bear in there with a (clearly written by an adult) sign that said “Teddy has been a very naughty bear”.

Thanks. The frame was exported from the BeamNG video game and printed. I designed the drum assemblies from scratch.

Also, “My car has lots of wind noise” is not something they are going to send a truck and loner car to the side of the highway for. Also “My car has lots of wind noise” is not something that is going to get a car declared unsafe. And you can’t “Refuse delivery” of a car you have already accepted delivery of and driven Read more

Way to ignore all but the line convenient to your narrative. Including the entire part about the issue with my sister’s car that mirrors this situation and shows your whole “They should have known better” to be foolish.

You are saying that they should have pulled over before the roof flew off their car. Whether they pulled over or not has nothing to do with the fact the roof wasn’t glued on their car properly. There is no version of “the roof wasn’t glued on properly” that puts any fault on the owner of the car. Even if they had Read more

Thank you. I was really happy with how this turned out. It was a bit scary laying into it with the saw, knowing there was no way to reproduce the lettering on the side if I messed it up.

I used to do this too (in the last few years the selection of used tires has dried up around here and the time hunting isn’t worth the savings). For common passenger car tire sizes you could get name brand tires with 9-10/32nds tread for $20-$25 each, as opposed to $90+ for the same tire with 12/32nds of tread.

Don’t worry about it. I have plenty of wheels. I have another less interesting of their mercurys that will probably give up its wheels and take its place in the yard.
