Goddamn is this show ever great. It’s reminding me a bit about the early 70s cinema turn to grit and antiheroes and the whole embrace of moral ambiguity. I particularly loved how, during the robbery, the Rebels haughtily self-justify themselves while kidnapping a relatively innocent woman and her son, basically

Was really hoping to wait and binge this, but avoiding spoilers was getting tricky. So I went ahead and knocked out the first 6 last night. Now, waiting for the next three and then the second season, it’s safe to say I haven’t felt this level of anticipation for something Star Wars related since I was a kid in the

Man, this episode was truly fantastic. Tense, full of great flourishes and world building, bolstered by top notch performances, and it really made me question if the heist would be a success. And some really fantastic visuals, from the Eye to the reveal of the doctor having four arms.

I hope I got the point across that this is essentially the exact same game as the others, and still has some very cool stuff (the background illustrations are BEAUTIFUL), I just hate the license so much haha.

Note: Wesley died on the way back to his home planet.

My current working theory is Q’s trying to teach Picard to stop lashing out in fear, and that blowing up the Stargazer to ‘stop’ the Borg Queen is a bad idea.

Farewell Dowd. You and basically everyone working at this site were so much better than J/O Media deserved.

Dowd, I’m glad the last movie you reviewed for this site was a halfway decent one. I’ll miss your good work around here.

At least we got the fantastic (semi) duet with Maggie Smith. Bitchiness has never looked so good.

After this episode I have a feeling Fett’s ultimate goal is to help the Tuskens take back their place as accepted inhabitants of the planet instead of just faceless, mindless raiders the people who came from off-world need to be afraid of.

Terry Gilliam himself has a cameo in that sequence.

It’s an easy fuckin’ question to answer.

Won’t someone please think of the fascism?

People can focus on more than one thing.

I once watched this old television program called “Siskel and Ebert at the Movies” in which two film critics would frequently disagree with each other...despite being on the same show! It was madness.

Ah yes, another bizarre and embarrassing instance of one writer for a website not being in lockstep agreement with another writer for another website, who have the same parent company and absolutely no other editorial overlap. Weird!!

Well I would call this movie a LOT of things, not all of them good, but “Just another MCU movie” isn’t one of them. If anything it reminded me of, of all things, David Lynch’s Dune. It’s alternately charming and boring, beautiful and overlong, thoughtful and kind of stupid. It has the makings of the first cult MCU

Sometimes subjective opinions are still wrong.

This review is about what I expected based on the trailer. I don’t think Marvel gets enough credit for how consistently high a floor they have for their movies and I think they get way too much credit given how consistently low their ceilings are. The majority of their movies are B-’s or B’s. If I think of ones that

Is there a post-credits scene where Snake Eyes warns me about the dangers of swimming in a quarry, or playing with matches in the woods?
