i feel insane saying this, but it doesnt seem that bad to me.

Yeah, it’s mixed between “great Trek” and “greatest Trek

It’s actually impressive how quickly the producers have managed to revive Scream as an ongoing concern, turn out two surprisingly good movies, both of them financial successes, and then burn the whole thing to the ground in support of the indiscriminate slaughter of innocents.

I mean, between Star Wars and Jaws, the mid-70s saw a pretty seismic change in how movies are marketed and distributed (namely the move away from roadshow release strategies and a keener focus on opening weekend as a metric of success); it may be silly to make a qualitative assessment of film based on that impact, but

Interesting that the article didn’t mention why this was launching on an Atlas V, or what’s going on that could easily doom the whole project.

The student loan interest deduction is extremely limited. Those who are truly low-income don’t pay enough tax to get a benefit from it. But it starts phasing out at $70k of income for single filers. It’s only folks in the ~$40k-70k income band that are likely to get much out of it.

Dude, look at the system you are defending. It’s ridiculous. You’re expecting recent college grads to afford to pay $800 a month to pay off this loan they shouldn’t even have to had taken out, ON TOP OF housing costs/rent, which, at least for rent, is averaging about $2k a month, and that’s not even taking into

I’m not knocking state schools at all. I graduated from one 7 years ago. But the fact is their tuitions are also skyrocketing as their funding has gotten worst every year. It isn’t a private school specific problem.

Even state schools charge $10k/semester and that’s -not- taking into account room, books, food...  So, sure, the average private school is double that, but good on ya if you don’t consider that “crazy expensive.

The state schools are drastically underfunded these days. Their tuitions have had to increase to make up the gap. I strongly doubt there are any remaining state schools that someone can graduate from with little or no debt.

So this guy could get out and shoot people instead of just hitting their cars with a pipe?

That’s not how anything works.

US citizens cannot declare war on behalf of the US. Otherwise, are all the volunteer soldiers doing actual fighting in Ukraine from various countries also declaring war?

You’d be amazed at how much of the world is not wired for broadband.

I’m glad the season is getting a good review, but I didn’t read past the first couple of paragraphs — partially I want to avoid anything that even looks like a spoiler, but mostly because I don’t like this take that there was anything wrong with season three.

It’s amazing how good this show is. I don’t think another franchise could do a funny, serious, heartfelt version of itself so perfectly, look up Star Wars: Detours if you want proof.

I don’t know how it is in Connecticut, but my least favorite stretch of I-95 is between DC and Fredericksburg. It’s brutal.

Counter example that happens often:

At any time, there are 350 million Christmas trees growing in the US. Those trees are a renewable, recyclable resource that are usually shipped a few hundred miles, but there are Christmas tree farms in all 50 states so you can just visit one yourself and cut down on shipping even further.

The team behind Indiana Jones 5 didn’t see that as a proper send-off for the iconic cinema star, and that became the focus of the new movie, out June 30, 2023.
