It was, for its time, one of the longest and most engrossing JRPGs ever made, and aside from this, has a great story.

That's true, and call me a picky player, but WCIII was what I view as the start of the downward spiral of the writing direction in the games, generally speaking.

I just know my lore - I was a fan of the original RTS games, [I-II] but I feel that starting with WCIII and especially WoW, Metzen's gone down a fanfiction-y road and it gets more obvious with every expansion that he plays favorites.

Anti-Heroes are great.
I'm a guy that genuinely loves anti-heroes; the Byronic Hero is my favorite literary archetype, ever. But the whole the-horde-is-innocent angle really grates at me. It's lazy and it's not realistic.
