PS VR2 won’t be backwards compatible with the old headset’s library of games

So, this is on a MUCH smaller scale, but I’ve directed an animated show on Youtube for the last six years, and in total we have approximately 18 voice actors, including myself. But every single actor is different. Some come very prepared and on-time to recording sessions, some come without even reading the script

Great questions that would have actually made this article much more informative. According to other comments here, Taylor gave interviews in 2018 stating recording audio for Bayonetta took about 16 hours, spread over four days.

The antivaxxer shit is sad but Hale is not a scab. She is union actor. Platinum didn’t go out and find a cheaper non-union actor, they went out and got a more expensive, arguablely more talented union actor. The role does not inherently belong to Hellena Taylor because she did it first, as angry as she is for losing

Based on the apparent standard rates for VA’s in the union of around $200-350/hour with a minimum of 2-4 hours, $4k would be what even a protagonist might make in a game if they only did 12-16 hours, which is entirely plausible for an action oriented game (depending on the number of takes and total lines, etc).

This should be at the top of the comments. The rest of us are just outsiders talking out of our asses.

We know the price for the work, but what is the work ? How much lines is there in your average Bayonetta game ? Also a side question : in how many different languages is a game like Bayonetta dubbed ?

it’s tough because two things are simultaneously true:

What? I didn’t say anything about postponing anything. I have zero issue with Taylor calling out Platinum, an offer like the one she received is absolutely disgusting for the role she’s playing (though, to be fair, she should really be calling out Nintendo, since they’re bankrolling the production and the decision

Definitely more than just her side of this story. She could have raised all of this publicly (or leaked it) when the game was still in development, to give her leverage, but instead she decided to take her shot a week before release. Why? What’s the whole story here? Were they planning to drop her for legitimate

So...saying that we shouldn’t boycott the work of hundreds of people who spent years of their lives developing a project because ONE person was (justifiably, it seems) insulted by a job offer on said project that they ultimately declined is being an asshole?

We’re getting one side of the story. If Taylor is Union, then

So can we get someone from Kotaku to find out what the average contract for a game is for a “minor actress” to voice a main character in a video game?

This is very tough territory for all involved. I was hired to replace Michael Beattie as Mordin Solus in “Mass Effect 3.” I had never played the game, so I didn’t even know I was replacing someone. I found out when I showed up to the session. My agents had sent me the audition, referring to it as an “alien scientist,”

That’s why there’s more to the story than just one side. You don’t “cheap out” when you go with Jennifer Hale. Her resume is massive. She’s more experienced. She’d cost much more.

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised but it’s wild to me how all of the other commenters on here are completely ignoring this statement. What does she think about characters like James Bond or The Doctor? Even outside of those roles, tons of characters get recast for a variety of reasons and those new actors should

I don't have any idea what VA pay is, but why does everyone here think it takes months for the VA actor to do the role for a video game? For an animated movie, 1 hour of movie time is something like 5 hours in the studio for the actor. So a Pixar film is like 10-12 hours in studio for a VA actor. That's basically 2

How melodramatic. She hasn’t had a single acting role since Bayonetta 2, if she's not homeless already then she has a day job. Even if $4000 is low balling her, which it's not since it would be a few hours of work, you've still made an article on an obvious ploy for attention.

Not gonna be an asshole about it, but, there are much better ways to go about bringing light to these kinds of shitty business practices, a decision likely made by one or two shitty suits, without calling for a boycott and belittling the work of every single developer who spent years of their lives toiling away the

$970 per four hour session is union scale. Given you can grab about 300 lines per session, they likely booked 2 four hour sessions at double scale. Worst case, scale for 4 sessions. I’m guessing it was 2 sessions at double scale though, because that would be in Hale’s price range. Hale is closely associated with SAG,

While I support and generally agree with what Taylor is saying, I disagree when she says that Hale has no right to say she is the voice of Bayonetta or to sign merch. Hale is now canonically the voice of Bayonetta whether Taylor likes it or not. By declining the role, for whatever reason, she has relinquished a form
