Card Games are Srs BznZ taken to it's logical extreme, someone who doesn't take it super seriously is a threat to reality. Reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh abridged Season Zero where that version of Seto plays for fun and it freaks Yami the hell out.

It's a balance between maximizing profit and giving a sense of value. Of course if you can maximize profit while tricking the customer into thinking they've got value then you've got the capitalism game down.

Kickstarter is a boon for Niches that are profitable but not massively so. These days you need to be a long established franchise or a popular genre to get the biggest bucks but publishers forget there's moderate bucks to be had as well.

I'll name a few for other people who aren't in the middle of an essay to type up.

All except MM: Powered up. in that Game only Mega MAn could copy powers but Proto Man's blast is super effective against all bosses as his gimmick.

I think it's for portfolios so they can show it to other employers and say "Hey, this is the shit I'm capable of." Of course a lot so studios simply hire cheap newbies out of education but it helps

They're adding a tip jar and with services like patreon people can pay for things they want more directly so at least it's not like ads are the only way to get paid on Youtube.
