Yep, there was a movie sequel, FUTUREWORLD, starring Peter Fonda and Gwynth Paltrow’s mother. And, later, there was a short-lived TV series BEYOND WESTWORLD.

Your memory is correct. WESTWORLD was an original screenplay, which was later published as a mass-market paperback in lieu of a standard novelization.
One of the great comic-book artists. Always enjoyed his work.
I seldom deliberately decide to stop watching a show. They just start piling up on my DVR until someday I realize that I am NEVER going to find time to watch those 18 old episodes of HAVEN or VAMPIRE DIARIES or whatever and delete them.
And let us note that those “old” Klingons, first introduced in 1979, bear little resemblance to the Klingons on the Original Series.
And, yes, I know that ENTEPRISE finally “explained” that, but that was twenty-five years later. We managed without an explanation for the old, new Klingons for a quarter of a century . .…
I’m looking forward to the new DUNE, too, but I’m little amused by the idea that a third adaptation of DUNE is “new and fresh.”
You’re thinking of VULCAN’S GLORY by D.C. Fontana.
There have been a handful of Pike-era novels over the years.
This will be the fifth DISCOVERY novel. I’ve been enjoying them so far.
Glad to hear folks are coming around. Now if the folks in charge would just listen to them . . ...
She believes in climate change. That alone makes her less of an idiot than roughly half of our leaders, including the demented con artist in the White House.
Just don’t ask her to violate the Prime Directive!
I love that she referenced the comic by Alan Moore, not the movie.
She’s a STAR TREK: VOYAGER fan, too, so she’s clearly one of us.
Fun article.
Not a movie, but 2019 also marks the 65th anniversary of Richard Matheson’s novel I AM LEGEND, which has inspired at least three “official” adaptations and, unofficially, pretty much grandfathered the entire zombie-apocalypse subgenre by inspiring Romero’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.
About the Vulcans: you’d be reclusive too if every other sentient species in the galaxy kept flaunting their distasteful emotions in your face. :)
“Oh, god, I tried living on Andor, but everyone was SO emotional all the time. Had to come back to Vulcan just for some nice, logical sanity.”
Nah, STAR TREK V is still the bottom of the barrel. I’ll take any of the reboot movies over that one.
Loved the first HAPPY DEATH DAY. Here’s hoping the sequel is as much fun.
Can’t resist pointing out that THE DEAD DON’T DIE was the title of an old TV-movie about zombies back in the seventies, starring Ray Milland and scripted by Robert Bloch. I’m guessing this new movie has nothing to do with that one?
Heck, Barbara Eden wasn’t blue in I DREAM OF JEANNIE. :)
Bingo. I remember liking the Robin Williams movie back in the day, but THIS is the genie who is burned into my brain.
I remember like BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS at the time. Haven’t seen it decades, though.
I still cringe at the memory of GALAXINA, however.
