Exactly. The Brendan Fraser movie was at least the THIRD remake of the original Karloff movie.
Exactly. The Brendan Fraser movie was at least the THIRD remake of the original Karloff movie.
And dare I mention that there are books as well? :)
That’s absolutely a famous quote from THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, delivered by Doctor Pretorius over a glass of gin. (His only weakness.)
Um, some of us grew up on those old Universal movies and love them dearly. And I liked the 1999 remake, and the 1959 remake, and the 1940 reboot, but the original Karloff movie will always be my favorite.
So let’s not be so quick to assert that nobody cares about the 1932 version anymore.
And, yes, it amuses me when…
He’s Wild Dog, from the comics.
To be fair, they are called the Dominators. Mind-control is kinda their thing.
KRYPTO THE SUPER-DOG. Streaky the Super-Cat was also involved.
Regarding Stein’s daughter, I’m more inclined to think that Stein’s own run-ins with his younger self may be the real trigger there, not anything Barry did. Heck, Old Stein literally ordered his younger self to be a better husband and not take his wife for granted. Not hard to imagine how that might have led the…
Ah. I was wondering if maybe you were counting THE SCORPION KING as Mummy movie #3. :)
Wait. There was a fourth Mummy movie?
(Not counting THE MUMMY’S CURSE back in 1944, I mean.)
Amen. I love that the CW shows embrace their comic-book roots and aren’t afraid to have time-travel treadmills, colorful costumes, reincarnated Egyptian hawk-people, and telepathic gorillas for Pete’s sake.
Would it be more “realistic” if the Flash wore goggles? Maybe, but seventy years of FLASH comics say…
Can’t helping noticing that none of the movies on this list date back to before the 1970s, even though dysfunctional families have been part of horror movies since the 1930s at least. Check out:
THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1932), with the sinister Femm family, who keep the scariest member of their family locked up in the…
Isn’t the TV show EMPIRE basically a modern-day riff on “The Lion in Winter” set in the music industry? Or I’ve read . ...
Thanks for including “Rumored” in your headline. A lot of sources are touting this “news” as though it’s 100% confirmed.
Exactly. Makes sense to cite the most recent, high-profile credits. This is marketing, not a critical survey of his career.
Hmm. Looks like it might be fun.
Just a quick glimpse of the Lion, though . .. ..
A decade ago.
Ten years ago.
Time flies like a monkey ....
Speaking of which, is her LIZZIE BORDEN tv series coming back for another season? I thought it was good, campy fun.
And the sequel, ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES, is arguably even better.
More Christina Ricci as Wednesday for one thing. (Give the filmmakers credit for realizing what they had there and beefing up Wednesday’s part in the sequel.)
