Anna Kendrick. Squirrel Girl.

Sold!

Good point. I may have gotten my Irish analogy backwards.

And pineapple.

(When I moved from Seattle to NYC aeons ago, I was shocked to discover that most New Yorkers were appalled by the very idea of pineapple on pizza.)

Although there’s no long-standing political tension between Chicago and NYC that I’m aware of . ... :)

More like putting Big Ben in Northern Ireland or something . ...

Thanks for posting that. Congrats to all the nominees.

Guilty as charged! :)

“Conspiracy.”

The Gary Seven/Who parallels only exist in hindsight. In fact, Who’s sonic screwdriver and Seven’s “servo” were introduced within weeks of each other, on opposite sides of the Atlantic,so any copying would have been both impossible and strictly coincidental. Seven owes more to Klaatu in THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

I still want an “Assignment: Earth” TV series, possibly with any connection to STAR TREK.

Love this!

Now they just need to get Rachel Bloom involved with this as well. Anyone who can get a Hugo nom for “Fuck me, Ray Bradbury” can probably have fun with a DC Comics musical. :)

Yeah, “Lyre, Lyre” was kind of a letdown. I have the soundtrack album, but never listen to it.

I believe that issue actually features Mystique’s first appearance, long before she found greater success in the X-MEN comics.

(It’s actually worth a nice bit of change these days.)

Makes sense. Her original origin essentially makes her a spin-off of an earlier character who has no presence or significance in the MCU. And introducing Mar-Vell to the movies, solely to justify Carol’s powers, is cumbersome to say the least.

Granted, BIRDS OF PREY failed before, but THE FLASH failed back in the 90s and it got a second chance. And SUPERGIRL tanked as a movie back in the day, too.

Maybe it’s time to give BIRDS OF PREY another shot?

Accent?

I don’t remember Deadman having an accent, or am I missing a joke here?

Well, the original Neal Adams comics always owed a lot to THE FUGITIVE, with Boston Brand roaming from place to place while trying to track down the One-Armed Man . .. oops, I mean The Hook. :)

I’m the one who writes the Star Trek novels and movie novelizations and such, yes.

As opposed to the politician in San Diego or a certain restaurant critic. :)

I always thought DEADMAN would lend itself to a TV show. The pitch practically writes itself:

“It’s THE FUGITIVE meets QUANTUM LEAP with a touch of GHOST. Boston Brand jumps from body to body, and guest-star to guest-star, while trying to solve the mystery of his own murder.”

You can even ditch the bright red circus

Agreed. “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” is sublime.

Now playing

The plot is explained in the opening credits every week, via a song-and-dance number, of course.
