And let be noted that XENA did the musical episode thing before BUFFY.

I love “Once More with Feeling” but it drives me nuts when everybody credits BUFFY with kicking off this trend. XENA’S “The Bitter Suite” is just as good and beat BUFFY to the punch.

I totally endorse this proposal

And, among other things, Victor Garber starred in GODSPELL ages ago, and played John Wilkes Booth in the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s ASSASSINS. (Yes, I have the original cast album and listen to it regularly.)

Dare I admit that I edited the novelization of SPECIES 2?

But do any of those choice pieces of dialogue top this line from SPECIES 2?

“If we can’t stop him, he’ll fuck the human race into extinction!”

So, is that villain some sort of Bizarro? Sure looks like it.

Have you ever seen the original NANCY DREW movies from the 30s? They’re a hoot. Nancy, to modern eyes, is a little psycho who is constantly snooping where she doesn’t belong and who will stop at nothing to solve a mystery. At one point, she even suggests putting sleeping pills in an old woman’s tea so they can search

I thought it was just Pippi Longstocking.

Her dad was a pirate? Cool!

“I’ll have your guts for garters” sounds like something a pirate would say!

Years of reading SFX and DREAMWATCH and other British SF magazines have rendered me familiar with that usage of “pants.” (“The current season of BUFFY is a bit pants, isn’t?”)

But I admit that “taking the piss” baffled me as a child.

Then again, Hollywood spent decades trying to make THE ALIENIST into a movie, but now it’s finally going to be a mini-series on TNT . . ...

Meanwhile, I still want a TV mini-series version of FEVRE DREAM.

I mean, the pitch practically writes itself: “Vampires on the Mississippi . . . from the creator of GAME OF THRONES!”

Or, as some of us remember her, Morganna on MERLIN.

But I wasn’t saying that I AM LEGEND invented the post-apocalypse novel; let’s give Mary Shelly credit that.

But I AM LEGEND did pretty launch the “zombie apocalypse” subgenre, as opposed to general end-of-the-world scenarios, and if you’re talking vampires overrunning the world . . . well, I don’t remember any

And this where I’m obliged to point out that THE OMEGA was an adaptation of I AM LEGEND by Richard Matheson, which did invented the “vampires overrun the world” business way back in 1954.

Have to check out the sneak preview tonight.

“These violent delights have violent ends” is a quote from “Romeo & Juliet,” incidentally.

Yep, the movie tie-in book was just the original script published as a mass-market paperback, as opposed to a novelization.

Seriously, we’re not even going to mention the 1973 original in the article, but make this new WESTWORLD sound like a FIREFLY knock-off instead? Because nobody ever did a sci-fi western before FIREFLY?

Hell, the original movie was only a few years before STAR WARS. It’s not as though it’s some forgotten relic from the

Amen. The movie’s unstoppable robot Gunslinger was the Terminator before was a Terminator . . ..
