For this they're referring to it as 'molten salt' at temps up to +735˚F.

Ah, OK. Didn't realize that the colors they put out were that 'distinct' on a spectral graph. I had an epiphany while editing a video for my college on hyperspectral imaging a few years ago and since then light and color theory has fascinated me. Love explaining why the color pink doesn't exist. ha ha

Abegnoa is currently building a 280 MW thermal solar plant outside Gila Bend, Arizona, using an insane number of troughs. What's really cool is that it will actually store the molten salt solution to continue generating power after sunset, as we here in the desert still see temps above 100˚ after 10pm on a regular

What exactly is the problem with the CFLs you refer to? I hate that most CFL's are in the 2700K range, since everything looks dingy warm to me. I went with daylight CFLs for a while, but now have my whole house with the 'bright white' (don't remember the exact color temp on them, not that it's usually labeled anyway).

Our Kohl's has used a slightly lower-res (no logos) version for a while now... but I was really surprised to find the grocery stores across the border from here in Mexico having almost the entire store done with LCD prices. Thought the US would be a little ahead on that...

Sadly, 100mph still counts as 'high speed' here.

Just wait until Libya pulls something like that... bit.ly will be real useful.

Heard recently they were doing some overnight tests with the existing trainsets at 165mph on some stretch... but of course that won't make much of a difference until everything is rated for the higher speeds.

Not until we can defy the physics of condensation...

Yeah, I could believe the skin getting 'done', but there's no way that enough energy would penetrate to the inside to get it anywhere near cooked.

Expected Giz to mention that the first F-35Bs were handed over to the Marines for operational service today. Been keeping my eyes open for one flying around town all week.

Slightly off-topic, but the App Store is pissing me off lately. I search 'AR-MAPS' just like it shows above and in the iTunes store link above, and it's still buried after 21 other apps with names that are nowhere near that.

It might be a little more tricky now, but you may have luck at Goodwill or similar places. I picked up one of the 'recommended' ones for $6. A buddy got lucky and even found a DOCSIS 3 compatible one for the same price. You pay for it in two months, three if you have to get a power supply...

Yeah, the other commenter is right about the HOA thing. But I have a Terk TV55 that has worked great for years, and its pretty easy to conceal, or at least not be noticeable. I have a flat roof and mounted it very low so it's not visible from the street but has a clear shot to Black Mtn 25 miles north of where I live.

Been that way forever for me too. Hence why that list is empty for me.

Yeah, I'd love a shepherd's pie in my face.

Or, for those of us in Arizona... change the time the other way on all those devices that don't allow you to disable DST. And make sure that all your events didn't magically shift by an hour in your calendars.

Usually, the critically-acclaimed or blockbuster movies aren't the ones that don't hold screenings for critics. 'Nuff said.

I wondered if anyone would catch that. Then I realized this was Gizmodo. ha ha

Damn, I was looking forward to this, thinking it would be local storage and in the long run would be worth dumping my TiVo that's only connected to an OTA antenna for. I wouldn't mind a higher upfront cost with local storage and a lower monthly cost. Plus I'd be too leery of how much compression will be done to
