At the time, I called, no joke, 370 Ford dealers (within about 600 miles of me, still have the spreadsheet ). All wanted a minimum of $10K markup, many at $15K, many at $20K). After two entire weekends wasted on phone calls, you give up and assume the rest will do the same.

Yep. Also be willing to put in the extra effort to make it happen. If you can get a car for a few grand cheaper, but have to travel a good distance — just do it. Spending 1-2 days (including a hotel stay) to go drive a fair distance to get a car likely still saves you more money than you were going to earn on the job

I strongly disagree. Had two Cayman GT4 allocations (of which 1150 have been delivered to US/Canada). Both dealers agreed to MSRP. Passed on it and ordered a Boxster Spyder instead (Only around 580 in US/Canada). $1000 off MSRP. Even Doug’s “Porsche sells for MSRP” is incorrect — it’s easy to get 5% on something not

Now playing

Looking to get the basis of that engine in my future daily driver: The M120.983, in my case, hopefully a 1997 Mercedes-Benz SL600 (R129).

Rally Sport. Ah yes, the 229 cubic-inch V6 making a whopping 115 horsepower. I believe the revised 305 cubic-inch V8 put out 155HP, and the 350 topped out the range at 190HP. Dark times, indeed.

Just as a heads up for other folks, there are analog gauges that don’t suck. I’ve never used the “sticks”, but I still use a good analog gauge.

420 hp may not sound like a “lot” in this day and age...

With the demise of Scion, do you think values are going to shoot up?...

Right. He left a multi-paragraph response to Patreon.com patrons.

Not his existing one.

Harris not being a regular makes sense. Per his Patreon post to patrons:

What is its Nurburgring lap time?

According to Auto Trader, that Ferrari was a murdered out 360 Modena, which the actor traded in for a new 458 Italia after putting “just over 9,000 miles (on the clock) in nearly 12 years.”

Harris is, without question, the new Clarkson of the bunch. Honestly, LeBlanc is more than likely going to be the new Hammond, with Evans being the James May.

In the latest feature article published in the EVO iPad app, Jethro Bovingdon basically confirmed that Chris Harris is one of the new hosts:

The FR-S has been lagging lately too, moving just 500 examples last month.

To be fair, other countries are much smaller. Canada isn’t any better than the US. Same reasons — it’s vast size. Britain? Hell, the UK is only about 2.3% the land area of the US, but if you go outside major cities it’s very hit and miss, and in small towns there’s nothing convenient outside of a car.

I’m no fancy big-city tech entrepreneur or private spaceflight magnate, but I think an end to private vehicle ownership is further off than Musk and others think—especially outside of big cities. What do you think?

Northeast doesn’t view it that way. Hell, Boston got 9 feet last year. Right now the “French Toast Alert System” is set to “who the @#$% cares?” Unless a storm is north of a foot, we don’t really care.
