Ford’s little differences used to crack me up, I got really good at telling them apart by sight: ‘92-93 identical, ‘94 has red wheel caps but black tailgate reflector, ‘95 went to black wheel caps and has the bottom door crease, ‘96 is missing the last piece of bodyside trim but all models had the vented front bumper…

They must have spotted an Outback in the parking lot.

IIRC, it was a one-year-only deal with the Ford F-150...1997, first year of that generation. I believe the location caused more problems than it solved so they reverted back for ‘98.

Pop-up headlights are trash, I don’t get the obsession. Great complexity/weight plus an aerodynamic penalty.

Not always...could be weather related. Cars make funny noises when it’s colder out. My ‘06 Altima sounded like a fucking diesel when it got below freezing. Freaked me out when I bought it, but realized others did it so I ignored it. It was a QR25DE thing.

Hopefully you’ve had it serviced.  If not, please do so before things wear to the point of failure.
