Western researchers have documented a similar illness in which busy adult gamers pretend they don't want to play Skyrim for four hours a day

Not sure of the appeal to women? The pose seems geared toward a male interest...

Shhhhhhhhh

Right? Or Square Enix...

What could possibly deviate your eyes from that beautiful screen

It's like people were afraid of the future. Here they sat contentedly, in their dichromatic Game Boy world, when along comes this monstrosity of so many shades and colors, so well-defined on a large, high-contrast screen. Life was simpler before the Game Gear. Thinking back to those times, I don't blame people for

This is a wake-up call to the video game industry - you are in possession of iconic, beloved IP's with increasing mass appeal. It's time to bring those brands to the real world like Disney.

Nobody in here talkin' about Game Gear

I know, right?

Let's be honest though. Anyone who thinks that games should be played solely for their stories is probably not a great writer. Because video game stories are awful*

Can we talk about the real problem (inconsistent and often outrageous pricing on the PSN)?

It's clear to me, and I hope it's clear to Bethesda, that the only way to end this madness is to release a DLC pack with the back story on this soldier which, of course, ends with an arrow to the knee.

I don't think innovation is as important as you think for the next console cycle. I think the keyword this cycle was innovation, but for next cycle it will be integration. That includes integration across platforms (XBox, PC, WinMo) and integration with other services (Netflix, UVerse, Facebook). Microsoft is

Long term, I'm predicting Microsoft as the uncontested gaming leader and a convergence between XBox, PC, and Windows Mobile. PC gaming is doomed, but so are console gaming and mobile gaming because in 10 years the lines between all three are going to be blurred beyond distinction.

Are you blind? I have a massive wall of text there, and it's not "FF is dead" repeated 200 times.

Best defense is a good offense, eh? Probably a tactical mistake here since my last post not only addressed your points but added some new ones of my own. Really you should have tried to save face with a few flimsy arguments and maybe some backpedaling on the categorical statements you made above.

It's hard to grasp a material point in your post through the sarcasm and angst, but my understanding is that your argument is this: here's a bunch of JRPG's (kind of, a lot of those are SRPG's/TRPG's), and of the billions of people on Earth SOMEONE had to enjoy them, so JRPG fans generally should be happy.

That's a great point, Ueziel, and this has truly been an eye-opening conversation. Thank you for your perceptive and intelligent insights, so eloquently expressed. Rarely has the world seen such a talent for persuasion and high-minded discourse, if ever. I feel truly blessed to have encountered you here, on this

You're right, there were several JRPG's released this generation. But nearly all of them were awful.

I remain to this day at a complete loss as to why this game was cancelled. What an unfortunate loss for JRPG fans, who are thirstier than ever these days for something fucking decent.
