No, I'm really quite obviously not arguing that at all. But non-smokers are not "better" than me, as a person. Healthier does not equal a better person.

You do understand that the demand for Gosnell's cheaper and horrific "services" was created by making it impossible for women to get safe abortions, right? Like you must get that it's such basic logic.

What is this even? He's not just bothering middle-class white women, he's bothering women and men of all races in a sexualized manner. What is wrong with you?

You're right, I felt attacked by the use of the word "better." You could have used "healthier," there are plenty of other things you could have said that didn't put a value judgement on people who smoke vs people who don't.

You said "I've told him I don't approve of either of those things as I think he's so much better than that..." i.e. that people who smoke are beneath him and, presumably, you. It is that statement alone that I take issue with.

So, you're better than me because I smoke and you don't?

What the fuck? How is this a "white woman" thing? Asking strange women for kisses is not okay....

I have a genuine question because the last sentence of your comment confused me:

Is anyone actually saying that women who have inductions or c-sections are bad mothers though? Or are they saying that doctors often pressure women into inductions or c-sections that aren't necessary and that women may not want?

Definitely.

He definitely was, but he also had a sense of humor and self-awareness about it, which was fun.

I think there are some jobs where it works okay - but those are jobs where there is less hierarchy in terms of the job you are leaving and returning to. My mom did it, as a psychotherapist. I'm sure she took a pay cut going back in, but we live in a small town where mental health professionals all know each other, so

I think this is a very logical explanation.

Exactly. What am I supposed to do with all that icing? The whole point of a cupcake is that it's like a travel-size cake.

Just looking at him still melts my heart oh my Lord. He just has the most genuine face.

I don't think that's what the OP was saying. He/she says in another comment (you were probably posting at the same time) that it seems different, and is genuinely asking for opinions.

No, that's simply not true. He said before 2012 that his thoughts on gay marriage were "evolving" and did not make it a campaign issue in 2008, but that does not equal being against gay marriage.

Even with those drains though, "touch supervision" prevents that kind of entrapment. If you're close enough to touch your kid and you've got your eyes on them, you'll notice when they're stuck and you'll be able to pull them out, hopefully with only a serious scare.

Probably because it was the main story of this morning's Dirt Bag.

As a lifeguard, YES YES YES. In a public pool with a lot of kids, you cannot assume that a lifeguard's eyes will always be on your child because that is not humanly possible, as the lifeguard is responsible for every child in the pool.
