Maybe I’m a sap, but I love baby photos of the kind Yolanda posted. Teeny-tiny hands, feet, baby clothes - tell everyone you have a baby, keep the baby in almost total privacy. Win-win.

You know that... supporting the GOP.... isn’t *everything* right? Or is it really as much of a cult as it seems to be?

This is interesting because Dashboard Confessional is one of the only bands of this time that I can still listen to and not have the misogyny take all the joy out of it for me.

I’m pretty sure lanolin *can* be cruelty-free, since it comes from the shearing process. CF is different than vegan, is my understanding. Most non-vegan CF people I know will use lanolin and aren’t worried about beeswax, for example. And, weirdly, no one seems to care about snail mucin although I feel like there’s no Read more

Okay THANK YOU, so much progressive victimhood narrative here. Anyone who thinks that progressives have been ignored and are “persona non grata” in the democratic party is either unaware of or willfully ignoring the (very good!) changes in the party platform and positions since 2016.

I think this is very cool! Even if he eventually gives up on the mushrooms or even growing things altogether, he’s learning how to go from “this is a cool idea” to actually doing a project. Which is a perfect skill for a 9 year old!

I’m assuming you mean because people are contagious before they show symptoms, which is true. But temp checks at least have the benefit of identifying and protecting from people known to be sick. And if those people are otherwise asymptomatic, and thus not checking their temperature, it might be their first clue as Read more

I had something very similar earlier this year, right around the start of COVID actually. My pain ended up being in my teeth more than my tongue but otherwise it sounds extremely similar. I also had a wicked tonsil stone with mine, and eventually developed sinus pain. I didn’t get a hard diagnosis since my strep test Read more

That’s how it worked in New Leaf, yeah. But you can tell whether you’d be disturbing a shark, since you can see their fins. So you can avoid that.

This dress is so lovely!! I think a tulle strap will look great. It actually doesn’t scream lace to me, though of course it is, so I wouldn’t worry about the straps not matching. The lace is fairly... gauzy?? .... if that makes sense, which I think will pair really well with the tulle.

Basically, she’s arguing that in order to acknowledge gender-based discrimination, we have to acknowledge sex. Which is very stupid because part of acknowledging gender-based discrimination is acknowledging that gender roles are socially constructed, i.e. not inherently based on sex.

Well obviously there are witnesses because that’s how people know it’s happening, and yet, where is justice?

You are being unclear on the division between protestors and rioters. You, in your original post, used the two interchangeably. Are people coming expressly to protest in your city? Or are they coming expressly to loot and riot in your city? Have you seen any actual violence in your city that wasn’t incited by police?

I’ve had something like that happen twice (both times when dealing with a new delivery method) and it’s the worst. It’s scary because it’s just scary but also because people don’t acknowledge that can happen with weed. I’m so sorry it happened to you!! Please make yourself eat something, even if you’re not hungry, and Read more

What you’re talking about is different from “open adoption” though, right? I thought open adoption was some form of contact or relationship with birth parents, not simply knowledge of who they are and the fact that child was adopted. A relationship is obviously very complex and works differently for everyone, but Read more

I think there are two streams of criticism about Marie Kondo. One is legitimate, which is that the assumption that if you get rid of something and then need it later, you can always buy another is not the case for many people. The other stream though is about fundamentally misunderstanding her approach and shoving it Read more

Jonny Sun is such a delightful treasure, he’s one of the only things I miss since getting off Twitter.
