@Archaotic: Halo- five games, including spinoffs. Nine years.

@AncientUnknown1: Ironically enough, I think Microsoft is in a less-evil position than Activision. It feels like Microsoft is willing to give the studios it works with considerable leeway in terms of what they do, and even if MS owns the properties, they're willing to let the original studios develop what they see

@AtticusSP: That's not right. I'm on the GS website right now and it says the standard editions are 50 new, limited are 60 new. Take a look.

@Jekku: Reason being Hans Zimmer did the music for both MW2 and Batman.

@Archaotic: Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences GOTYs are industry voted. LBP got GOTY this past year, and I doubt it was the best selling game out there. The AIAS does genre-specific awards anyway.

@Archaotic: See, that's the thing, though- most rating media give multiple GOTYs. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences gives genre-based GOTYs as well as an overall award. And marketing doesn't cause it to win by default- the AIAS awards are peer-determined. The development community at large secretly votes on

@Archaotic: While I see your point, if the game of the year had to be liked by fans of all genres, we'd never have a game of the year.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my proudest pleasure to present the Game of the Year, 2009.

Although, how does Rei Ayanami count as schoolgirl?

That was not a light sprinkling of movie magic. That was one of a series of trailers for another iteration of a movie that SHOULD have come out two or three years ago.

@Yossarian: The best way to describe this is "you get what you pay for". Microsoft has its own seperate revenue stream for supporting and upkeeping XBL. Sony, on the other hand, has to pull either from devs or out of their already strapped budget, which leads to things like frequently dropped matches and Home being

@Platypus Man: Apparently they'll have "awards" for games that're along those lines. Nothing really has that functionality yet, but there's a group for it on the editor screen so we know its there.

Pills here!

@Kris: While we've still got plenty of releases, I still want my Burn Notice meets Mass Effect. Oh well, more time for MW2 :/

The announcement time was planned and you know it. Granted, they probably wouldn't have announced it if it was midnight over here, but Nintendo is going to take whatever advertising coups they can get.

We are at the critical point. Sony NEEDS to announce some sort of conversion program, anything would do, because otherwise, the GO will be dead on arrival.

Dual mini-Uzis? Delicious particle effects? Obscenely beautiful graphics? Hair trigger action?

@Talleh: Apparently the spiky haired dude is VO'd by Johnny Bosch. That's why it sucks ass. They need to make him stop acting.

@Showmeyomoves!: Game Informer gave it an 8 and its got an 85 on Metacritic. I'm more of a Burnout person myself, to be honest. I suppose if you're interested in sim racing and not in GT5/FM3, Shift would be worth your money, but then again, I haven't played it.
