I don’t think the instant pot saves time on most things, except broth and beans.I can throw some veggies and a chicken carcass in for 40 mins and get a really intense broth that would take hours on the stove. Plus I don’t have to monitor it. That’s the main win for me. I don’t have to pay attention or even be home.

Homemade yogurt is 100% better than that bitter Chobani shit.

What is fascinating to me is that THIS is the issue for which Buruma was willing to fall on his sword. The NY Review of Books publishes articles on mostly intellectual and esoteric subjects, not topical or popular culture. (I’m actually a subscriber...) Would Buruma have given Ghomeshi the time of day before Ghomeshi

I’m no fan of Ivanka Trump to put it mildly, but I think in this case being publicly silent is the right thing. The daughter of the president should have no role in selecting the Supreme Court and I do not care what she thinks about Kavanaugh.  Sit down, Ivanka.

There is no way in hell that this privileged frat boy who has publicly bragged about his drunken behavior well into adulthood (law school and beyond) assaulted one girl in high school and never again.  There are other women out there, but I don't blame them for staying silent.  Coming out means getting death threats

I was just going to say that intelligence is not only not a prerequisite for marrying or being a royal, it’s a drawback. No one wants to hear these people speak - it threatens the whole uneasy political system. God forbid they have political opinions and try to do anything other than cut ribbons and wear heavy

Like a lot of academic women, she seems to have dual names/identities. She goes by Dr. Blasey in her professional life and uses Ms./ Mrs. Ford personally. No idea what her legal name is...You aren’t going to change your name professionally after getting a PhD and publishing papers!. I agree that I would prefer the

I don’t object to senior state officials having (reasonably) nice apartments because, frankly, the pay is mediocre and the people we want to serve in top positions have options to make a lot of money in the private sector. This perk is a way to make up for that. I have a friend who works for the state department

Is the “female friend” allied in any way with the “Black friend?” Maybe they work together in a team? As in, my “Black friend” says that it’s totally okay for me personally to say some racist jokes.   hahaha!

You forgot to mention that Wendi Deng was/is romantically involved with Putin. So Ivanka and Jared are on a billionaire’s yacht off the coast of Eastern Europe with Putin’s paramour. Nothing to see here, folks!

I was wondering how they were going to age those gorgeous creatures 20 years. I guess a little grey hairspray did the trick. Why bother? We aren’t here for verisimilitude.

Also, at a certain point, people who are physically addicted to a substance have to keep taking it in order not to become ill or die. Stopping some substances cold turkey (like alcohol) can literally kill you. They need to take small doses of the substance to feel normal, not to get high. The consequences of

GoFundMe is partially responsible for this situation. These people had no business running this fund. They were random strangers and knew virtually nothing about him or his background.  Going through with all the steps to secure the money in trust would have been onerous and they would not have been paid for the time.

Honestly, they could have sent him to a rehab resort with gourmet organic meals, maid service, and yoga for 6 months and he still would have had enough money left over for a car and a rental deposit or start-up money. The idea that they used 200k driving him back and forth to out-patient is laughable. As someone who

We don’t take away someone’s right to control their own property just because they are homeless. Or even because they have addiction problems. Appointing a guardian for an adult requires going through a complicated and costly court procedure and having a hearing in front of a judge. If he’s a military veteran of

Well, he’s a grown adult. I’m not sure that a guardian or conservator would be legal or appropriate considering that the money belongs to him, not them. I’m not sure what the law is, but I’d think you’d have to get court approval to take someone’s right to their own property away, even if the person has addiction

The family member I ran a campaign for did not pay taxes on the money. Can’t you receive up to 10k from an individual as a gift without paying taxes?  I’m assuming no one person donated more than 10k, even if the total was 400k.  I think the tax law hasn’t caught up to this kind of online campaign.

I can see how this spiralled out of control since it seems like they were not the most financially stable people themselves. They may not have been homeless, but the bf has a gambling problem. And they must have been on the financial edge themselves if the woman is running out of gas on the side of the highway with

Yes, pretty sure you can shut a GoFundMe account down when you reach your goal. There was no need to keep it open and raking in the cash...unless you are doing it for the attention and the free (untaxed!) money.

I raised money through GoFundMe for a family member who lost everything in a fire. There is an option when you create the account where you can turn everything over to the recipient, but they have to have a bank account (and internet access/literacy) to claim it. That might have been a problem initially. It’s hard
