This year? Really??? They look really dated (in addition to tacky as hell) to me. Maybe I'm so old that things that look old to me are back again. It's just usually when something comes back, there's a fresh spin. I guess I don't see socks with stripper shoes as a "fresh spin."

Was it "Late Night with David Letterman?" I just realized that I never realized that it changed from that. Guess it's been a loooong time since I watched Letterman...

Thanks! Wow, do I love Richard Ayoade. He's so delightful.

Clearly, this is disturbing on a lot of levels. Not the least of which is that nothing about the decision to have children should be rooted in the desire to make a point about oneself.

Ha, I've lucked out as well. Thank God. I know I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT. What is seen can't be unseen and I've got enough in my brain already that I'd like to unsee.

Now THAT is a great idea!

With you on this entirely. I've also stepped away from the recent years, at least in part because it was getting farther and farther away from the social justice perspective in which I was raised. I do have high hopes for Pope Francis' influence. I hope it drives cultural change in a meaningful way.

Your experience with a Catholic education is really very similar to mine. In fact, I'm always surprised when people equate Catholicism with an anti-science perspective. That said, I'm Canadian and our public discourse in general tends to be less influenced by the evangelical outliers from any religion.

Marry me.

"Apparently, Disney didn't expect Frozen to be such a colossal hit"

:) Ha, exactly

Sure, why not? The misquoted poem on the front was written by a Canadian.

Ha ha, my daughter was a skinny baby too. People used to comment on it to me and I really couldn't see it. But now I look at her baby pictures and see how skinny she was. Now I understand why I had people — strangers— ask me if she was well. Then I had my son. He had chubby wubby cheeks and a smoochy woochy belly. No

Bite. Your. Tongue.

I'm sure it could work in Canada. People have a right to basic health care; they don't have a right to a specific doctor. Plus, our publicly funded school systems (at least the one my children go to) mandate that children must have up-to-date vaccinations to attend school or a medical reason not to. Children whose

You are not alone. Although for me it was back in high school and it was more like third base...

Thanks for these links. I will check them out! Really appreciate it.

Hey thanks for posting that. I was feeling less-good about my previous donations to this org. Good to be reminded that things are different up here.

Ahh, I feel ya. "Sleep hygiene" is a phrase that kind of makes me laugh but it is very important. I'm still not perfect (I read/talk on the phone/knit/work on my laptop/watch netflix in bed often when it's supposed to be just for sleeping n sexing), but I'm better than I used to be — and it does help. Good luck.

Check with your doctor first cause of the bebe (congrats!), but maybe you should consider taking melatonin. It's been very helpful to in trying to get to sleep. I still have a hard time sometimes to STAY asleep, but wow, melatonin helps me zonk out.
